Video: Cop falls head first through the roof after going up to adjust the Thai flag

Shocking CCTV footage showed the moment a senior policeman fell through the roof of a police station in the north of Thailand crashing head first onto the main steps.

As a woman tends to the injured man others including a policeman with no tunic scurry to help the stricken cop.

There is much consternation as fellow officers point up to the hole in the roof at the Wang Nam Khu police station in Phitsanulok.

The incident happened in May but has only just been widely viewed on social media. Sanook caught up with the man at the center of the drama, Pol Sgt-Maj Wichayut Srikrajang.

He said that he was on the roof adjusting a Thai flag and other flags that had been blown off straight in a storm. But it was slippery and he lost his footing.

He couldn't remember much after that.

He had eight stitches to a head wound and cracked a rib and had to stay in the Naresuan University hospital for a time before he was allowed to go home to his wife. He had done some physio and expected to make a full recovery in time.

One of his superiors Pol Col Sumit Manmuang went to offer his support with a basket of goodies and an envelope containing cash.

Sgt-Maj Wichayut said he hoped to be back at the station soon though he was going to do some light office work first and not overdo it.

Did he bring it on himself by going up there .? Yes .. Did he survive .? Yes .. So no great harm done .? No  .. Here's a tip just pass over if you don't like my contributions as your faux outrage

  • That mini-cop at the front just stood there doing nothing - disgraceful!

He's very lucky. He could easily have broken his neck in that fall.   I'm pleased to see that his fellow officers did the right thing and did not try and move him.   I wonder what

An envelope containing cash and the next thing he is going home it makes everything better much faster ????

Poor fella, hopefully he will not need the help of the social security funds ( prakahn sunkom) benefits to see him through his recovery as those guys will not pay as it happens to someone i know out of work for 3 months where he was told there was no more money to give after paying his contributions to the fund for years and no money when he needs it the most...

Even some light office work would be overdoing it for the RTP.

Immigration Police back down to basic pay as low as 8,000 baht per month as (official) share of fines from airport etc has shrunk to zero.

Hope this guy gets enough to be able to donate a handrail and anti slip covering to the roof for next time.

That was some Sportsmanship

The quality of building in Thailand sometimes is a crime . Go and arrest the builder ...!

Nice to see the police handing over an envelope full of cash rather than receiving it.

WOW! Good luck shined on him that day. I'm amazed that fall didn't kill him

He found it funny because karma is a bitch and it had all the makings of a Keystome Cops sketch!

Get over yourself.

Self righteous prig.

I'm pretty sure that no brain cells were damaged in this incident.

I find no humour in the pain, misery or misfortune of others. Those that do, I wish them well...well far from me.

Memo to all Thai police, before venturing onto the roof

Do it before lunch and make certain it can withstand your weight

Better still get some skinny prisoner up there.

I'm sure you could find one or 2 with roof experience

Lifelike then!

could have been climbing whilst picturing settling down later with a good beer, and the lofty gods of pre-karma struck him down vewwy swiftly

He was lucky not to have a serious neck injury but it seems he will be okay. On the lighter side, I could other ways of getting to top of one's profession.

Am sure the lady helping him was doing what she thought was best.  Good thing he did not have any injury that moving his head and neck around would have caused a much more serious injury.
