There was nothing of a significant substance announced at the today's daily briefing (PR Thai government).

They have moved to the once per week schedule so there won't be another briefing until next Thursday.

If the guidance has been issued there is no one talking about that, yet.

With the exception of your contact at the embassy.

Please keep us informed of any new developments.

True. nothing new

but at least it's a clarification

Actually there's something unusual.

The very first step as indicated on the flyer is to contact the local embassy/consulate not with a request to fill out an application form, but to inquire about the available repatriation flights.

That's actually a significant change.

I don't know if it's a sure sign of the new policy being implemented as per the PatrickC' report but definitely looks like that might be the case.

There is also a fair bit of confusion around the sequencing of events. For example, you do not need to get the covid test 72 hours before flying, just the result. And you still need a fit to fly certificate on top of that.

Interesting... but wouldn’t the ‘date’ be the significant point of note on any Covid-19 test certificate.

Would the Covid-19 Negative certificate be dated with the date it was issued or the date the test was taken?

Guidance is now out. Contact your embassy.

Contacted my embassy today.

They've just answered.

Their response - nothing have changed.

They have no say in anything until they hear back from MFA in Bangkok.

Some people are seeming to take pleasure in telling others who are stuck that they will be unable to do something - Schadenfreude....

I suspect retirees may have been left out of the loop for no other reason than it was an over sight.

This may be corrected soon with the next announcement.

I think its unfair that retirees and those with ties to Thailand have been left out of the latest application process for the Certificate of Entry.

I’m not sure if ASQ hotels are full or not, if there is space there is no reason to stop the return of anyone.

The bottleneck for returning foreigners seems to be with the decision at the MFA in Bangkok.

The bottleneck for returning Thai’s seems to be limited space on the Thai Airways repatriation flights and limited space in State Quarantine.

IF I am not mistaken (there has been debate on other topics) foreigners can come on any available flight.

It will end up like Australia there are only so many hotels with the proximity ability and i suppose to some extent run quarantine. NSW currently has nearly 30000 people in quarantine. So yes the number is finite. It will be filled by the large backlog of Thai citizens, then those with residence and spouses and children long before they open the door to most others im afraid. Wa has limited international arrivals to 560 a week? Nsw 400 a day so horses for courses but there is certainly a tipping point.

Travellers will be subjected to a 14-day state quarantine at a
government-designated Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) facility at their
own expenses (including the arrangement to pick up the applicants at the point
of entry into Thailand)

Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) is the process of Quarantine at
government-approved hotels at the traveller's own expese.

FYI: I don't know about other people but how can one afford to pay $1000.00 usd per night for 16 nights or days on retirement as returnees to Thailand? That's around $16000.00 u.s dollars in 16 days. There go my retirement funds down river.

The prices start from approximately THB 35,000 to the most expensive being THB 144,000. These prices include 14 days of stay, 3 meals a day and tea/coffee. They also include 2 Covid tests and a visit by a medical staff coming to you everyday to check your temperature etc. How does that equate to USD 1000 per night?

NO, all returning Thais and anyone else lucky enough to have jumped through the hoops are mandated to go into the Governments 14 day quarantine, be it either at a government location or one of the new AQS locations.  Thais have not been able to quarantine at home for quite awhile.

True. If anything, foreigners can be trusted to quarantine at home more than Thais. Either way, the government wants as much control as it can get, hence no more option to quarantine at home.

That being said, maybe a few weeks down the line they may switch to home quarantine (apparently Malaysia has been doing this for a few weeks) with a tracking bracelet before removing the requirement altogether.

Why quarantine at home when you can quarantine in a hotel for 35k using a room that would normally rent for 10k.

Who do you think gets the extra 25k? this is just more corrupt Thai officials extorting foreigners.

So I'm good to go. I'll be on the next repatriation flight to Bangkok. I'll let you know how it unfolds.

Great, please keep us posted!

I doubt it WA. As long as the media pumps infection rates and ignores death rates the medically ignorant will remain in fear. There are trillions to be made on a vaccine, most major players are linked financially to Gates and his vaccine orgs. There is big pressure to drag this out as long as possible. Additionally the politicians want the vaccine to justify why they killed our economies and our jobs over the seasonal flu. Too many vested interests to let this go away. I would expect next year some time.
