How are the bars, restaurants, agogos, massage shops, gentleman clubs and any business doing during covid?

Nest was sold years ago I thought? totally overpriced so flopped

Correct. In its day Nest was good value for what it offered - I Imagine that when Robin sold it, quite a lot of goodwill went along with it.

I've only been in once in the last 5 years or so and wasn't impressed.

I'm quite sad about that...FER and the other Gogos on that Soi used to be  amongst my favourite afternoon places. Mind you they were struggling LONG before Covid.

Yeah totally rubbish  FER and the other one and well past their sell by dates, it takes owners ages to realise

Hope is still springing eternal, two empty shop houses nearby "have the builders in", one I am told will be a currency exchange and the other a gold shop. Time will tell.

One was previously a bar/guest house, the other a massage place

Further up, the building formerly the Far East Rock is being completely ripped apart and converted to apartments.

Some people still have the confidence to invest their cash, good luck to them.

On the other hand the coffee place in the Soi has just folded.

Inevitable but sad to see.

Massage shops think they're going to open 1st May, dreaming

Yes, I think we can expect some tightening up rather than relaxing in the next day or two.

Have to deter those in Bangkok hitting the motorway to Pattaya for this long holiday weekend.

Nothing rude, no worries, indeed upon reading it over again you did mention it. Sorry I didn't notice at first reading....????

And at the same time he continues to hold onto The Nest?

As Scuba says, I thought it was sold also.

Surprising the name was not changed.

"Good Will" in business here is not really worth anything, but reputation can be important.  The Nest had a good reputation, so why not keep the name?

Well there is the perspective of both the seller and buyer in that reputation. I thought I heard of a few 'complaints' after the change of hands.... Perhaps changing the name was not desirable wrt the accommodation.

Depends on how well the original business was going at the time, and depends on what the new owner will do with the premises.

Yes, that 1000 baht credit a week, to be spent in selective shops was a big help ????

Put bar, restaurant, business openings in here, a wider topic, the other thread is too specific

You should try soi 8

there are 3 massages places here

of course they are ''closed'' at the moment but the girls actually live inside

and they are often outside in front of the shop, i see them everyday

maybe you could try your luck here

also 2 other options on Pattaya center road

one on Ali baba indian restaurant side, just before the corner

to beach road and the second choice on the same road but

opposite side to Ali baba restaurant, beside the empty parking lot

I'll have a look down Soi 8, one of the benefits of a motorbike is you can do the circuit around Pattaya side streets, my favourite ones are off Buakhao, my favourite massage girls have gone home or moved to Bangkok but I'm slowly getting good replacements

Ref other businesses a number of  informal food vendors in the Soi have folded their tents and gone this month.

They used to sit and have communal meals till late on which gave the place a bit of life, and was an improvement on the derelict appearance of Sois 7 & 8 last time I was there. Still a bit of activity at the 2nd Rd end but mainly darkness lower down.

Soi 7 and 8 are totally dead now

the only venue still alive and with few customers

is the sailor bar and restaurant on Soi 8

but for how long? i doubt they can do any benefit

actually, probably just barely paid their bills

I thought the Sailor had closed.

Will have a look in there next week, nice old place.

With the current numbers it does not look as though they will be selling drink anytime soon.

The sailor was closed for 2 weeks when the governor decided this month

to stop the dine in option, their customer base wasn't really interested to

take out the food.

They have now re open since few days, but unfortunately they don't have a lot of customers, as i said they are the only venue still open in this area

and you are right, without being allowed to sell alcool in the next weeks\months, i am afraid they are bleeding money at the moment

In the same area, one of the actually closed bar in front of beach road

just beside the Police station, has now a big sign ''business for sale''

Profit margins are less on food.  Businesses have to carry perishable ingredients, and there is more staff involved in food preparation.

With alcohol only, all that is needed is a fridge, and one member of staff.
