Thailand reported 82 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, with most discovered during testing of migrant workers at quarantine facilities and hospitals in Samut Sakhon.

Of the new cases, 71 were local transmissions, while 11 were imported from people entering quarantine.

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) also reported 59 people had been discharged from hospital having made a full recovery.

1,111 people remain in hospital or held in a migrant worker quarantine centre.

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 25,323, with 83 deaths.

When the vaccines are ready they will artificially increase the numbers to put pressure on the public opinion to vaccinate, create a sense of guilt for those who do not vaccinate, create a movement of hysterical informers who denounce those who do not vaccinate, who will be regarded as terrorists.

without numbers of tests done per day the numbers mean very little

as is your response...

because borders appeared porous and virus is now in many provinces (including north-east), they might be going now for herd immunity.

so no testing of general population, only hot spots, those walking in with symptoms or through contact tracing.

fact is, each tests costs around 3000b. That's up to 15 times more expensive than a single shot of vax.

If the first test is positive, than, at least, the second test is needed.

And, unlike in many other countries, in thailand there is quarantine in the hospital. So again, some 10-20k baht per patient on medical care. As a bonus, vital medical personel might get infected in the hospital (as it happen in thailand during the first wave).

To suggest that the Thai government how

might be going now for herd immunity.

This suggestion isn't based on any facts at all.

Hospitals have less covid patients now than last spring.

Going for herd immunity means conditions like in US or UK, collapsing health care systems, hospitals turning away patients, not enough oxygen.  There is not the slightest hint of this in Thailand.

To go for herd immunity you need a government and a populace actively trying to spread the virus,  like in the Dakotas (governors opposing masks) or London (lots of people without mask during the December peak as described by durhamboy).

In Thailand,  most people are scared of covid and act accordingly.

And contrary to certain western countries,  leading figures of the state haven't been infected,  maybe there is a reason for that.
