Parents claim primary school teacher abused thirteen children at Surin school

Police in Surin in the north east of Thailand are investigating an extremely serious case of multiple sexual assaults on thirteen early primary school children.

It has been claimed that the male teacher started abusing them in P2 (the second year of primary education) and continued into P3.

This would mean the little girls were aged about 7 - 9 years.

On Monday eight parents on behalf of ten pupils went to the police in Phanom Dong Rak sub-district of the district that bears the same name.

Dam, 50, the grandmother of one of the alleged victims said that last Friday the teacher had told the girl that he wanted a massage in the staff room near the end of the school day, where he is accused of inappropriately touching the girl.

She managed to get away and ran home in terror.

Dam (an assumed name) said there was great anger and distress among the guardians of the children and that there were 13 victims in all.

Also giving evidence on Monday was Sri (an assumed name), 64, who recounted a similar story on behalf of her granddaughter.

Her child ran home and fell over hurting her forehead in the process.

She expressed determination that they would see the matter prosecuted fully.

The guardians said that they had been to see the director on Monday morning to demand that the teacher is immediately removed from the school and transferred away and should lose his job.

They described him as very dangerous having been abusing children since P2. Victims had been scared to speak up in the past.

The director promised swift action.

The police too are promising decisive action with all thirteen parents and guardians and the children themselves ready to give further evidence to the prosecutor in the presence of social services.

More as we hear of developments in this serious case.

This is not a rare report in Thailand, we seem to hear similar stories every week.  It seems to be endemic in the more rural areas of the country.   Employing untrained and incompetent 'teachers'  and School' Directors' is one of the root causes.  Thailand will never develop as it should until it gets its education system sorted out and all these incompetents and sexual predators identified and sacked, or better still imprisoned.

Yeah , yeah, we know, ask him nicely to come in for a month, and then spend another month asking for an arrest warrant

Sometimes the law must be taken into ones own hands and dished out swiftly however painful it may be ????

Cue another crackdown on foreign teachers. :(

If there are thirteen cases, then one would assume he is guilty.

Strange how they are everywhere in the Thai society. Must be hard for the Thai men to get enough from their wifes. They should ask some foreigners. Many times their wifes stand in lines to give us. :cheesy:

"The director promised swift action."

I would far rather have read:

"The director took immediate action, suspending the teacher pending further inquiries."

But I guess I'm just an optimist. Face more important than ruined children's' lives.

 thirteen cases,

Unlucky for him

Good, at last some guardians and children willing to stand-up against these pedo's and make sure they are taken out of harms way.

Time the schools and police took this seriously.

If I were the parent of one of the 13 children, he would not even get as far as the Bangkok Hilton!

all around the world there are sick minds and exceptionally/extremely sick minds but I can't find a word for the dirty, sick ones here in Thailand.... simple solution cut their balls off to avoid any potential future resurgence/occurrence from happening again

You can call me what you like

Has anyone ever compiled all these 'teachers' into a comprehensive list so others might be aware of their behaviour?

in my 20 years here its been a stream of quietly re-assigned/blame the student, stories!
