BANGKOK (NNT) - The Public Health Ministry has planned to progressively roll out almost 30 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine across all 77 provinces by August.

 

Department of Disease Control (DDC) Director-General Dr Opas Karnkawinpong said the plan adds to the more than 100,000 people in the target groups already inoculated in the national vaccination program and also involves identifying and entrusting 4,000 clinics and medical facilities to deliver the jabs nationwide.

 

He said the next phase of vaccination began this month with 300,000 people earmarked for the jab. The vaccination timetable will continue until August when the last 10 million doses will be provided.

 

Dr Opas said the numbers of people being vaccinated and health facilities offering the service will increase in the coming months. This is vital for fast and effective vaccine distribution and coverage.

If they were all J&J vaccines that require only 1 jab that would make sense. Also a lot of Thai people that I have talked to don't want any vaccines. Just maybe there has been too much talk about what can go wrong after they get the vaccine.

J&J now approved in Thailand, but when will hospitals and clinics be able to order and receive them? 

Without any currently placed orders Thailand will be quite long in the que for obtaining the doses.

It is beginning to appear like Thailand put all their eggs in the wrong basket.

I've also had that feedback from a couple of Thai's worrying about the side effects. The press here has made too much of it.

However, if the headline is achieved, this will prepare Thailand for the 6 million British tourists which will be coming this year.

   Yesterday they said they had 'acquired' 73 million doses.  Now, today, the figure is changed to 30 million doses, only enough for 15 million people.  We seem to be moving backwards in slow motion.  Meanwhile, almost April and only a tiny number of people vaccinated.

Actually, they waited far too long to put any eggs in any baskets.

The AZ vaccine is currently not recommended for use in people under the age of 18, so that number can be reduced by about 20%, but your basic point remains valid - their plans seem to greatly underestimate the number of doses that will be needed.

Normal in LOS - confusion and chaos...

all the members of my wife family and friends said before the vaccinations started that they do not want the jab, so when and what did the media say to the sheep that was so bad

Yet more BS  is that August 2021 or August 2022

Just as likely to get to 30 million tourists by August.

 

 

No clue why they stage this Covid charade.

And do you suppose that the Thais have bothered reading about the problems AZ has been having in Europe with vaccine yields at its new facilities there? Making a vaccine, especially a new one, is a little bit more difficult than turning out large quantities of aspirin or paracetamol.

The government is living in cloud cuckoo land if it thinks this plan has any credibility. Maybe 3 million by August, if they pull their fingers out, but there's more chance of the RTP becoming an efficient and honest force than there is of hitting 30 million by August.

The mathematics above simply do not gel and are not fully explained. That is 29,900,000 jabs in 4 months (by August). So far 100,000 have been given. That means 250k jabs every day from April 1st ...... until end July, excluding the booster jab ... so double the figure.... rough rough.

In the U.S., more Americans have received at least one dose than have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. So far, 143 million doses have been given. In the last week, an average of 2.71 million doses per day were administered.

US pop is 328 million. Approx 90 million  have had at least one dose, with 49 million fully dosed.

If pop was fully vaccinated   and they could manage 1 million doses a day, then 190 days to get to everyone for a 1st doe. And then there would be the  280 million who would need a 2nd dose. even if only 80% was dosed,  it would take 368 days to get 2 doses to 80% of the population.  And then there is the issue of a booster for the variants and the flu vaccines.    maybe next year, people will be fully protected in USA.

If I apply best case scenario to Thailand,  country cannot be 80% vaccinated for at least a year.  I think implication for tourism is no visitors until 2022

Wrote to a Bangkok hospital for an update yesterday on when they can offer vaccine appointments. Here is the answer, encouraging to a point, but I can imagine ALL the big hospitals are chomping at the bit for the go ahead.

Thay mentioned 4000 providers, that is 62 a day to get 250,000 injections. Some of the newly released vaccines only need one shot, like the J&J and the SinoVac so that makes it easier. The newer ones also do not need cryogenic storage, which also makes it much easier for both transportation and waste.

 

I am looking forward to getting whatever becomes available. I am waiting to hear the rules and fees for the falangs as well.

 

If Thailand wants to be an innovative leader in the world, they would fully dismiss this planned-demic nonsense and ignore the nefarious mandates for jabs, masks and societal distancing.  The people would be infinitely better off by simply avoiding taking the "Franken-jab" (as well as being absolutely addicted to their face-diaper!)  Of course that has a near 100% unlikely chance of coming about due to the financial abundance lavished upon the top decision makers.  ????

Good summation.

I am impressed by the constantly shifting numbers.  Is it possible that they are overlooking the possibility that many people don’t want or will not sign up to have a jab?  There was a survey on TVF a couple of days ago that said 40% will not avail themselves of a vaccine and another 20% were unsure.  If this is the flow of sentiment, the government will never get near their targets and will have a problem of a completely different nature.
