The Chiang Mai provincial communicable disease committee has decided to close two pubs in Muang district for 14 days, after it was discovered that a COVID-19 infected woman visited both places.

Two new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Chiang Mai today, raising total infections to 6, all of whom are being treated in hospitals.

Dr. Chatuchai Maneerat, the provincial health chief, said that one of the two new cases had visited pubs in Bangkok and Nonthaburi before returning to Chiang Mai and the other, a 24-year old Thai woman who lives in the US and is currently visiting her family in Phayao province, visited the both pubs in Chiang Mai, the Warmup Café and Ground, several times between March 27th and April 3rd.

Its just all gone tits up now hasn't it. Once hailed as a success Thailand's covid measures are now showing their cracks and the virus is overflowing. Thanks for the travel promotions, shame about the plan to open up Thailand in the near future, you've blown that dead.

Why close the pub? is the virus hiding in there waiting for people to enter? People will just go to another place. They need to do -- if they have the ability -- contact trace and test people that have been there recently, then quarantine those positive.

The pub itself is not the problem, the people that were there are.

And who is compensating the owners? As she is from the US I would try to find a lawyer in the US and sue, you never know, they are famous for ridiculous amounts awarded.

do you mean countries that actually test the population and have a very good handle on infection rates and spread

Sorry about the poor quality picture, this probably applies anywhere in the world at the moment. ????
