The only other advise he gave me was that pretty much all government workers were corrupt, not just the dictarships and 3rd world countries but all of them and that seems to be coming true also.

It is good that you understand that as you get older you also get wiser, exactly like your Dad did.  Many people don't like to hear that but it is generally true.

If it's true that there really is no prostitution in Pattaya, then I've been conned by hundreds of girlies on my visits.

 

Now I feel a complete fool!

Actually it's you quoting me out of context. I know precisely what he said, and Thai demographics are readily available to make a comparison. I'm saying I don't agree with it. Regardless, it has been here always and yet never admitted to only that they are working on family friendly venues for tourists.  

 

The issue is it is not just tourists that utilize these services but many in the government, and there lies the big issue and problem.

Correct, tourists do bring in millions of baht for the sex trade, and Covid has highlighted this loss of revenue.

The influential people will never eradicate it because many have investments in the trade, police will never enforce laws as it's a form of revenue for them too.

Government will never stop it because they cannot provide alternative employment.

There is sextrade in every country in the world , it's the oldest profession there is . Not saying it's all well arranged for everybody working in it but that's another problem . What we don't hear, and which Mr. Chuwit is well aware, while the pseudo-moralistic Hi-so elite community disavows, is that there is a massive sex pay-for-play industry in Thailand catering to Thais of all classes.  The sex for farangs is a small subset of that larger industry that is a highly lucrative business all across Thailand.
And like drugs, the government should decriminalize or legalize it and enjoy some tax revenue.
