BANGKOK (NNT) - The government will adopt a single command system to improve the efficiency of the national Covid-19 vaccination drive, with the aim of inoculating about 30 million people over the next three months and 50 million by the end of the year.

According to a post on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s official Facebook page, the government will do everything in its power to procure more doses to support the national vaccination drive, with a target to buy 10-15 million doses a month from several manufacturers.

The government will also improve cooperation between state and private agencies to ensure broad distribution of the doses. Alternative vaccination centers will be set up at appropriate locations, such as meeting halls, sport centers and hotels to prevent crowding at hospitals, whose main task is to look after infected patients

The prime minister said at least 300,000 doses will be administered a day, with the goal of vaccinating 50 million people by the end of this year or sooner.

maybe selling seats on deck chairs... you've got your box seats and you've got your groundlings... calling in "favors", whatever it takes depending on how much "pull" a person has.... meanwhile, the cheap seats are going under

Just wondering why the article doesn't mention that it will now be the CCSA in charge (as reported in other news)

This sounds like a very positive move to me as I assume the Health Minister was previously in charge.

The single command system will be discussed via the usual sub-committee yet to be set-up.

India, a main source of vaccines isn't planning on sourcing out with domestic demand so high.  Its going to be difficult and costly to aquire many vaccines even if Thailand could vaccinate that many people a day.  Thailand has waited to long.

Still, while the government is talking about their goal of administering 300,000 doses per day, this is what they did yesterday:

That means they need to almost quadruple their current rate of vaccinations.

Long way to go, Baby!!!

Funnily enough, I can think of one chap, with a proven track record in running things, driven by empathy, with a team of energetic, able and enthusiastic young associates and plenty of public support, especially from younger people.

Unfortunately he may (or may not) have allowed the ownership of some shares in a dormant media company overlap with his entry into the political arena for a few hours!

Such a shame, things could have been different if he and his team had been part of a government dealing with this. Still, cannot be helped, that's the way democracy works; time marches on - waddling rapidly (double time!) towards the nearest khazi!

Unfortunately the establishment were worried that he would curtail the armies criminal activities and the corrupt and depraved behaviour of many others, so they just had to curtail his activities. One day perhaps his opportunity will come again.
