PHUKET: Foreigners in Phuket caught ignoring COVID prevention measures and acting in a manner deemed to be not “socially responsible” will face legal penalties and may even face being kicked out of the country.

That was the message delivered at a meeting of high-ranking Phuket officials and the majority of consuls and foreign government representatives on the island yesterday (Apr 27).

Leading the meeting, held at Phuket Provincial Hall, was Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew, joined by all three Phuket Vice Governors, Pichet Panapong, Piyapong Choowong and Vikrom Jakthee.

You know what?

Thais don't like to read any news.

If they see somewhere a title "farang", Covid, they make their own story up.

They are well aware from where the 3rd wave came. Not from the hard working people, no, the Hiso and Gov; people having a few parties.

Better now to blame the "foreigners" again.

Shame is, that there is almost no farang coming now and the ones who are here, most probably catched it from a Thai.

The meeting was for/with FOREIGN consuls and representatives on the island so of course the Thai officials would remind them to pass along the word to their nationals and other constituents. Did you happen to read that the THAI Prime Minister was fined for not wearing a mask in public? It has nothing to do with targeting any particular group of people...it's to get everyone on the same page. Even after over 20 years, I don't understand the reflexive defensiveness of so many T-V members. If you hate Thailand...leave!

Does that include the two in the photo? Or doesn't staying two metres apart matter if you're wearing an invincibility face mask?

What about locals - with they be exiled to Xinjiang or North Korea?

I can't begin to imagine how they will cope with follow ups.......who has been a repeat offender? How would they ever know that? Are they running a data base?

Been here two months and counting...been warmly greeted everywhere I've stayed, eaten, and been kneeded. If that's your experience, maybe you should smile more.

No doubt we foreigners who have helped to support the economy in the areas where we live through this pandemic will be blamed for the latest wave of Covid nothing to do with the incompetence of the Thai government it’s we foreigners who are to blame

  • Popular Post

I would like to see a list as to the nationallities of people with Covid in Thailand. The only foreigners i have heard of who have Covid are from Myanmar and bribed their way into the country via the corrupt immigration team in Chiang Rai that the investigation has now gone quiet on.

  • Popular Post

I know TIT and the PM has just made a major power grab so that all COVID statements are under his direct control.....but does it really make sense to keep insulting the people you hope will come to Thailand as tourists and save the tourist economy jobs? Just asking!

  • Popular Post

Does that include all those pushing for a July 1 opening?

Mass vaccination programme of whole of Thailand needs tovbe carried out. Every effort should be made to manufacture AZ vaccine in sufficient quantities as soon as possible. Meantime no tourism should be encouraged domestic or international.

When things go south (no pun intended!) there's always the dirty foreigners to fall back on. They can be blamed for everything, and can also be used as ATM machines. Pretty shrewd how these 'officials' have developed a 'farang ecosystem'.

In other breaking news the Russian vaccine that the Thai government has ordered they are not allowing to use it in Brazil due to the fact of lack of data lack of transparency I was a vaccine therefore Brazil will not use the Russian vaccine the Thai government thinks it’s a great deal so why not Get it TIT

Fair point......but also, to be fair, what politicians (certainly currently in power) don't all use the same playbook.......every dictator, rightwing 'leader' needs an enemy upon which the sheeple can focus their attentions.

And did ANY of the foreign consuls present have the balls to ask “ when can foreign nationals in Phuket get vaccinated, either at a government hospital, or privately?”

I bet the answer is <deleted> zero. SMH
