Surely not Surelynot,  I'm surprised you even thought of it.

This had to happen. I've seen the same thing occur when I worked in a notable Thai institution. Farangs think they've found a loophole to acquire the same benefit as Thais, and a few weeks later, word

This is disgusting, plain and simple. In one fell swoop, Thailand has proven that it is fifty years behind the rest of the world.

  • So having paid significant amounts of income tax every year for the last 15 years, I go to the back of the queue for the vaccine.   I can't even pay for it at a private hospital because the

Only 50?

Surly it makes way more sense to give foreigners a $5 vaccine than to let them potentialy get sick and thus put more strain on the already over crowded hospitals.

Sheer lunacy.

I knew it was too good to be true.

What is this statement 'to be given when there is a surplus'?

That would mean end of the year which is too long. Right now, there is a shortage of vaccines worldwide.

And what an irony it is that Thai hi-so's of Anutin's social class are able to fly into the US for an eight day stay and receive a vaccine from the US government that my tax dollars are paying for.

When are the the foreign tourists coming back - we need them so much

as much as I do miss them now there is a part of me that hopes they never come back.

Go to Taiwan instead.

At least there you will be treated humanely and with respect.

Can you imagine the pain the ruling classes would suffer as a result of that!

Me too.

But I suspect his inbox will soon have a filter to remove any mails that mention "vaccine".

I'm certainly not holding my breath.

The Health Ministry had lied and lied to us.  He should be fired.  Thai's that live in America get the vaccine at the same time as Americans do.   Yet here the Health Ministry has looks at us as second class citizens here.  Just like wearing a mask.  He tells everyone to wear a mask but I have seen many pictures of him without one.  It is time for his cremation.

I am, and we all should, write to our embassy/consulate and demand they put pressure on the Thai government over this issue.

I see the government is also gearing up to sell the vaccine to companies.........so perfectly healthy, unlikely to be ill, 18 to 40 year olds will be vaccinated well before much higher risk groups.

LOL good luck with that as from what I seen from the Australian embassy response which was a big fat NO for them help their own citizens about getting a vaccine in Thailand.

Got a very prompt (ok boilerplate) response:-

I am, as you would expect, raising this as a matter of urgency with the Prime Minister, as well as the Minister of Health, asking for both clarity on the government policy and for equal access to vaccines for all residents of Thailand.

Alas, we are not citizens of any rank. And I do not know if Thailand has anything in its constitution that accords individuals, whatever their nationality and standing, equal protection, as does the first clause of the 14th amendment.

The clumsiness of this headline cannot be understated.

Who is quoted??? Which in the Thai Health Ministry made this announcement? Someone either issued a statement or made the verbal announcement, so who was it ????

The information of the announcement is vague, but its content a dog-whistle to 1000’s of posters who will respond on this thread.

Meanwhile alternately announcements have been extremely clear that foreigners will receive the vaccine. Foreigners have also already registered.

It seems obvious to me, with what face does a government arrogate to itself the right to test an experimental drug on a foreign citizen?

It's reasonable and rational.

How do you read the headline?

1. You won't get a vac' jab??

2.You will 'have' to pay for it??

3. Even if you want to pay you will have to wait until all Thai people have had their vac' jab.

That can't be emphasized enough.

It seems likely this was an oversight in planning of the app, which then allowed pink ID card holders to register

Hey, I would even take being labelled a second class citizen here, but as foreigner males we are not even easily allowed PR let alone to become a citizen. So probably better to say Undesirables with wallet.
