No.... Bangkok didn't!

 

Both the Thai Enquirer and ThaiPBS posted stories Friday saying Bangkok reached a daily record for new COVID cases at 869...

 

"Bangkok recorded a single day’s new high today (Friday) with 869 new Covid-19 cases, as Thailand added 2,044 new cases and 27 more deaths."

 

Except, the government's own records show otherwise, and that the actual peak was much higher back in late April when the country as a whole also reached its peak case number of 2,839 on April 24...  Look at Bangkok's tally for that day, shown on the second line below for the latter part of April, and specifically, April 24:

 

 

And if that wasn't enough, there also was April 25 and 27th below, again, on the second line:

Strange the CCSA never mentions these surges in prisons

 

Allowing more non-violent and pre-trial prisoners out on bail would reduce overcrowding and help contain the recent surge of Covid contagion in the country’s prisons, opposition MPs said Friday.

If there were only 1,000 test nationwide, a 22% positivity rate would be scary. If there were 5,000 tests nationwide, not so scary.

 

But, we don’t know the total mass testing numbers.

191 COVID-19 infections found in new Bang Khae cluster

 

191 COVID-19 infections have been found so far in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district, through proactive screening, in a new cluster traced to a shopping mall in the area, according to City Hall.

 

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang said today (Friday) that 14 infections were found on April 28th, in a community on Soi Petchkasem 84. One of them is an employee of The Mall Bang Khae. Since then, proactive screening has been conducted, during which the other 191 other infections were found.

 

Among the 191 infections, 82 are employees of The Mall Bang Khae, while 13 are community members in Soi Petchkasem 84.

When an outbreak was found in Bangkok, the entire city should have been isolated and all residents of the city should have been tested.  I live in China, this is how China has got the pandemic under control.  Here, no random testing is done but areas are isolated and a massive number of tests are performed on the area where a disease has been found.  One new positive is enough for this.

Watched an interview with a SAGE bod.......he said in pandemics you cannot look at the data and then take action.......you have to guess what is the reasonable worse case and take action based on that......looking at the data is too late.

But Prayut could not have it, now why the sudden change? Is it because they have a glut of it as they ordered more than they were using and now the use by date is fast approaching....

Meanwhile in the UK 60% of the population has had 1 jab, 95% of over 60's. 30% of the population has had 2 jabs and around 300,000 a day are getting it. Houses have access to free lateral flow tests, as many as you want, you can even get them delivered for free !

You just don't get that Thailand is not testing enough people per day to get an accurate account of the number of covid cases.

Uh-Oh, this is starting to get some people in certain places twisting in the wind it would seem.  Hua Hin/Cha Am is where I wanted to go this month for a nice vacation, but this wave has seen to it that we stay in BKK.  I hope that they do not try and lock the workers inside.  Ropes need to be hidden.

If 1820 are from hospital presentations and 220 from what Thailand calls mass testing then it's a fair assumption that there isn't a lot of mass testing going on. Absolutely zero asymptomatic people would present to hospital. Asymptomatic people are positive and are part of the virul spread. Sore throat and sniffles maybe maybe not. For well over a year now it has been obvious and supported by charts like worldometer and even admissions from the govt that mass testing is not great in this country. 220 positives from 'mass testing' I argue shows a very low daily test rate in a population of almost 70,000,000.

Of course, the only sensible way to go.

 

With Thailand however they have already left it too late, the data is already here, over 20% positivity rate on hospital walk ins. Yet they are still intent on showing off their limited pro active testing and giving charts saying its around 4% - 6%. (which by the way still shows a spread that needs to be contained)

 

Similar to a certain poster on here who always forgets the hospital walk in categories.
