OMG have the Phuket police nothing better to do no doubt this will hit the national tabloids in the U.K. for everyone to take note so much for expecting 6 million Brits to come and visit Thailand as TAT estimated would happen just a month or two ago . ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

  • Why not just call in an air strike ? These old pissers are obviously a serious threat to society..not to mention causing Yorkshire pudding shortages across Thailand.

6 people and a child of around 11 or 12 years old have a get together around the pool and its called an illegal party? Surely we're missing something here as this is just bizarre.

  • That is no different to a large family sitting round a dinner table . But like the the Darts and the Bridge , it is much more newsworthy when it is the " white devils " doing it.

The two were arrested at the house* and charged for “acting against the Communicable Diseases Act, B.E. 2558 (2015) and the Phuket Provincial Order No. 2284/2564 Section 5,” Capt Prasan wrote in his report.

https://www.thephuketnews.com/brits-fined-b6-000-in-phuket-for-illegal-family-gathering-of-six-79970.php

Section 5 of Phuket Provincial Order No. 2284/2564 was issued by Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew on Apr 28

Is effective from April 28 to May 12 - There is no official translation of the Provincial order.

Article 5: Organization of social activities

???? Organization of social activities People shall refrain from organizing social activities in the form of parties, banquets, festivities, birthdays, housewarming, reception-delivery and congratulatory celebrations on various occasions, except for traditional ceremonies such as a funeral, ordination ceremony If marriage cannot be delayed or postponed, take adequate preventative measures to reduce the risk of infection.

But this was clearly ‘just lunch / dinner’....  it wasn’t a banquet, festivity etc...

So, how many does it take to make a party?

I believe it's set forth in the Covid-19 restrictions we're all living under at the moment (well some of us).

Hopefully, this will make international news and more don't come to be subject to discrimination against non Thais.

A few friends enjoying a glass of wine together. This is seriously wrong.

And you know this how...maybe it was a bunga-bunga party.

The limit is 20 (nationwide).

BUT, the Phuket Governor also added a separate Provincial Order (valid for 2 weeks until tomorrow / 12th May) which is sufficiently vague to leave wiggle room to charge anyone who has someone from outside of their household over to their house.

Currently with 98% of covid cases in Thailand being the highly contagious UK variant would it be too much to ask that these self entitled morons follow the rules like everyone else.

No wonder the numbers are so high in the UK where "having a drink" is more important than other people's lives. They just don't get it.

10,000+ daily deaths from the UK strain currently worldwide.

No deaths in the U.K. yesterday and those in hospital have drastically reduced would love to know where you get your info from as you speak through your nether regions as from Saturday football supporters allowed back in grounds the FA cup final will have 20,000 supporters and grounds around the country between 8 and 10,000

You originally said there were farangs, Japanese and Russians drinking.

The virus doesn't care about your thoughts that three girls and their families "deserve" or are " entitled" to a get together.

How hard is it to understand? The virus is spread that way. People die from it. Other people get seriously ill from it. People have had their livelihoods destroyed by it.

A get together for three girls who can talk online isn't necessary during an ever worsening pandemic.

Read my whole post again and instead of taking things out of context, the parents had to pick up the children, had a coffee while waiting,

If not an offense even how you can justify a teen sleepover during a lockdown stage of pandemic boggles the mind.

Are the students tested, are they vaccinated? And why mention the nationality of parents you socialized with. I have Japanese friends in Japan who have not had a meal with anyone outside their household in more than a year. The are follow all government suggestions even though no fear of arrest, not all do and why the pandemic continue  there more than 10,000 dead.

Now you're just being ridiculous. Why did I mention the nationalities? Jeez...............

Vaccinated? Teenagers? How?

In the worse global pandemic for two centuries just abide by the rules and if your in a country abroad like Thailand with a serious wave be even more careful.

define serious wave, as we have had such small numbers comparatively speaking, the rules are deliberately ambiguous, this two families having lunch together whilst their kids play.

He knows because the police have stated they have fined two people and want the other four who were present to contact them.

No pointless "maybe" or stupid "bunga-bunga" he was just stating facts and telling the truth. Try it sometime.

I think the wording of the regulation (about any organized event) explains why the cops were shouting about "party party" all the time. They are trying to establish that this was akin to the events organized in bars and discos that caused the virus to spread. However, it is beyond ridiculous in this setting. I doubt this was a business venture, I doubt any money changed hands, I doubt there were public invitations.  Just a few friends having a drink.

You'll find the whole point of the OP is that the rules are being applied indiscriminately and as far as the so called party goes they were certainly not aware they were breaking any rules. It is doubtful they were infact.

Pretty hard to drink coffee with a mask on.

You do realise the B1.1.7 is highly contagious right?

Absolutely crazy for two Brits being fined when this happens all over Thailand during these strange times.

Why is the term "Brits" always used in these "name and shame" articles?

Most other times the term "foreigners" is used, and is there really any need for the names and addresses to be printed in the article?

four chiefs and a team of Police.

so they came with a force of about two or more per family member after a tip-off from a verifiably well informed source.

IMHO, they should find the information provider and do that person for defamation and causing government resources to get wasted ... ... as if those chiefs and their team have nothing better to do

I guess it would get the mask a little damp correct? I take it you've not been to a restaurant of cafe for a few months then?
