he had requested to be moved to a bed in his Thai wife's room. She also has Covid.

But doctors turned down his request so he went home in a huff.

he simply wanted to know why his wife's brother could sleep in the wife's room but he couldn't !

He's a romantic. A highly contagious romantic, but a romantic nevertheless.

I'm sure there are lots of Thais who have done something similar or not telling where they have been when health people want to track potential covid infections yadda yadda yadda. However the media is not going to mention much about that. Any Falangs that screw up will get front page coverage. Sanook lives for this.

This is how its has been for two decades. It's just gets more in your face the longer the wuhan pandemic runs. Good reminder, you better have options.

You are wrong. The home-grown idiots get frequently reported in the Thai media. Just because your primary source of local news is a poorly translated copy/paste on an English language forum doesn't mean that they are only reporting the farang f*ckups.

I would have thought that after "two decades" your gears would have been well grinded already.

There could be countless reasons for this. Should a hospital just cater tgo any whim of a patient. Who knows the situation its the hospitals call. I can just imagine the chaos (on top of the stress there already is) when they have to cater to the wishes of people.

Could be that the wife needed extra care. The room could be to small. Regulations are there for a reason.

Its a hospital not a hotel and patients should listen not make it even harder for healthcare.

Eh yes, my mistake. I'd misread to be that his wife was still at home. There is a possibility of course that he hates being in hospital, just as I do. So in a way I sympathize with him.

Comical isnt it, most posters on here spend a lot of their time having a go at British people, yet here it is an American idiot.????

Somebody should remind him where he is, not home in the land of the free.????

I am an American and I approve of this post!  555

BTW - I am NOT one of the American idiots (when it comes to Covid-19 precautions at least)

I watch the Thai news most every night, unfortunately. I'm well acquainted with local mayhem. A softie BTW, I never like the vids of vehicles running over bodies, however pixelated.  Saying that, if a falang comes along, it gets feature treatment. But don't believe me check it out yourself, just make sure your remote handy, as local news can get loud. Put in some weeks or months. Knock yourself out.

Secondly I abide by the theory, todays variant of nasty nationalism was uncapped post 97, and never put back in the bottle. Not popular, but not an uncommon notion.

Cheers

Jeez, you would think he would appreciate some time away from her..

I have yet to meet people who like being in a hospital. Maybe if not sick and really cute nurses. But in general people don't like hospitals. Yes it would have been crazy if his wife was at home with covid and he alone had to go to a hospital.

As I read it his wife, also with Covid, was in the same hospital but in a different room. How you consider the decision not to allow them to be together is up to you. Personally, I can't see any valid medical reason to deny that request,

Maybe his wife had a word to the doctor.

He has been ordered into a hospital, (in accordance with the law) but his wife, who also has Covid has not. Why not?

Are they not aware that the wife can also pass on the virus to the relatives and neighbours?

Yesss you know virus farang is more dangerous.

An idiot .. an over spill behaviour from his previous president !

If I read it correctly, she is in the hospital already. So won’t pass it on to relatives and neighbors. The guy threw a tantrum because he couldn’t be in the same hospital room as her.

use of the word “fled” in the headline is a bit over the top. He walked home. Not like he was being pursued by the keystone cops

Any reason given why he couldn't share a hospital room with his wife?

Probably that he could not be charged twice for 2 rooms

Wasn’t there a whole thread yesterday dedicated to the headline that thai people weren’t telling the truth about their movements to hospital staff and were causing those staff to get infected?

seemed pretty front page stuff to me.

I am ashamed that idiots like this are from the same country I am from.

Wait till he is cured, jail him 6 months for endangering the public's safety, deport him, and ban him for life.

If he dies from Covid-19 chalk it up to evolution protecting the rest of humanity and nominate him for a Darwin Award.

Why TF couldn’t he be moved in with his wife? They both have covid <deleted>! And example of gross stupidity in Thailand...(following on from asymptomatic people need to stay in hospital rather than quarantine from home)

Well, both the US and the UK seem to have a lot of selfish covidiots.

The numbers prove it.

Why can't they be told? Entitled?

OK, so he behaved like a total idiot. He has Covid-19 an his actions placed others at risk.

But, has the humanity totally been lost ????

Why could he not be placed in a room with his Wife ?????

When I am choosing insurance I specifically chose a Private Room and not a ‘shared room’. There are a lot of ‘shared' hospital room’s with two beds in them which reduces the work load on the nurses, a shared room is a lot cheaper than a private room.

IF the hospitable had no shared room available, then fair enough the guy was a tool. Was this explained to him? or did the just tell him ‘cannot !’ (which is frustrating in any situations).

But, was a shared hospital room even considered ????

There’s always more to the story. In a highly stressful situation its can be easy for someone to flip-out when easily handled situations are instead handled extremely poorly.

The article headline is also misleading... (deliberately so?)...’Sleep with his wife’... No.. he wanted to share a room with his Wife (as reported in the Thai news). I don’t think this is a completely unreasonable request.

They were both in hospital.

How about male/female wards? Good reason for being separated

Makes you wonder how these guys support themselves ?

Maybe the US Govt pays them to stay away
