What Can Visa Agent do?

Featured Replies

Believe it or not, I have not particularly enjoyed my trips to immigration this year. It has got me thinking I might engage an agent in the future. But, my question is what can they actually do? I mean it seems like most things require the actual passport holder to show up to immigration anyway, right?

It varies according to the agent. Contrary to some opinions on TVF, they are not all crooked and illegal, in fact, very few are.  I use an agent to do the paperwork and legwork for me, for extensions,

You need an agent only if you are bone idle or do not have, or want to have the required money in the bank. But they usually get an extension from another province, which whatever they or others tell

The money you pay your agent basically clears the way to get what you need done. Your money is not only going to the agent ! Yes you need to be there for a big smile photo, get your 12 month extension and leave in 65 minutes......

What do you need a Visa agent to do for you ?

I have never used an agent, the last 2 years

I have gotten my retirement extension in about

an hour ,that's at  Chiang Mai Immigration, which

used to be one of the worse.

It varies according to the agent. Contrary to some opinions on TVF, they are not all crooked and illegal, in fact, very few are.  I use an agent to do the paperwork and legwork for me, for extensions, Entry Permits and Certificates of Residence, if I need one.  I still meet the legal requirements for an extension, I just stay clear of the Immigration Office, the queuing and the almost inevitable hassle. Using an agent also ensures that you will not be faced with a last minute issue with the paperwork, with an IO who is just having  a bad day. In my view, its well worth the cost and removes from me any stress that  I may be feeling as the extension day approaches.

These threads are often guess work as no clear details. Since the OP mentioned TRIPS to immigration then my guess is covid extensions. Even if that's the case the next question would be which immigration office.......spit out the details and accurate advice will be forthcoming.

Your assuming he needs 12 month extension. Why?

He stated TRIPS plural. For annual extension that would be one trip.

Doubt that's what he is asking about

Yes correct, TRIPS this year, ( plural ) cannot be extension, I need to read more carefully.

Think I'm being harsh.

It's just that these threads are so common. Lack of info in the OP.

If details are given the replies can be given with clarity.

Majority of guys including myself use agents as money fixers if one cant meet the 400k or 800k requirement that's needed for an yearly extension of stay. All I can say that my stamp is real as I was right there in front of the IO when he stamped it .

The agent I use is a very organized and professional operation. Everyone including immigration gets a piece of the pie as they work with them. Yes I still had to be there with my wife in person with our house photos and all the paperwork but it was so smooth and easy when you have an agent involved, no line ups, not being interrogated by immigration, just sign here stamp for passport good for one year.

go figure.

Why? Currently there are covid extensions available. Very little reason for agents.

Some folk are using agents for covid extensions. The fee covers the 1900 extension fee plus all the leg work.

How does it bug it up for others. You don't even know what the OP requires from an agent. Don't join dots when there isn't any

The words above are yours. Nothing to do with OP.

I was pointing out that due to Covid extensions being available that business for agents would be far from brisk

Bone idle or just not wanting to waste a day in Cheang Wattana. When the online 90 day reporting does not work I can get my 90 day done by an agent on my soi for less the taxi fare to CW and back, why bother throwing in 5 or 6 hours of my life as well?

Agents can help smooth the path, I used one in Chiang Mai for quite a few years. Then I realized I was assembling all the paperwork for them, and all they were really doing was getting me ahead in the queue, plus buttering up the Immigration officers. I did the next one myself. Took me longer, but my time worked out at about 3000 baht/hour in my pocket instead of theirs.

In Chiang Rai, I've done all my extensions myself. It's really just a matter of having all the paperwork in order.

I know the experts on here will tell you that you need to show up in person and or, with your agent at immigration.

I have known this from people living here not to be the case.  I just got off the phone with a popular agent in Pattaya and was told just photos and a passport are all that is needed you do not have to go to immigration. They will return your passport the next day with the one year stamp.

This is for a retirement extension.  Quoted 10,000 b.

To add, I qualify and just do it myself but called to confirm what I believed was true that with agent, you do not have to go to immigration.  I assume they just use the photos provided to the agent/passport as evidence.

Like many posts in this thread, you have assumed that @FatVern looking for assistance for 12 month extension.

The fact that he stated....."TRIPS to immigration" would indicate thats not the case.

He has contributed nothing since the OP.

What service he is after is a complete guess.
