Here's one website that I went to register successfully, but don't have appointment yet as they don't have the Vaccine yet. It's in Thai and English and you can use your passport or Thai ID card.

I believe this is for the Sinopharm vaccine

Actually it looks OK https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinopharm_BBIBP-CorV_COVID-19_vaccine.

What's wrong with the Sinovac? Yes, it's not quite as effective as others, but It's still better than no vaccination whatever.

You can always take the Sinovac and then later take the vaccine of your choice.

The problem with Sinovac is that nobody really knows how good or bad it is. Unlike the vaccines approved in Europe and the US it has not completed the crucial phase 3 clinical trials and probably never will.  Also it is worth noting that Sinovac is not on the list of vaccines that will allow you to travel to Europe.

The announcement isn't very clear though. Where, when and how to register?

Vimut Hospital is obviously full and doesn't accept further registrations.

MedPark did a mistake with taking reservations and told me to try to register June 5 onwards.

Chulaporn Academy registration worked but no further reply so far....

I tried registering at the "private hospital" that I use normally and that I have used a number of times over the last few years..they had no idea and said no registration is available for vaccinations. Then my wife rang Vimut who said that they have already received 20 000 foreign registrants and are no longer accepting registration as they currently also don't have any vaccines issued to them. So they don't know when they will clear the current list of registered persons.

How'd she manage to get thru to anyone at Vimut. I tried calling them repeatedly the other day on both their TH and EN language voice response system queues, and all I could ever get was recorded voicemail messages!

FWIW, I was one of those who pre-registered with Vimut last Sunday, the day after they opened pre-registration. At the time, they said they'd be sending SMS messages in 4-5 days notifying people of their actual appointment for registering.

AFAIK, they then quickly bailed out of that notion entirely, and replaced it with "we don't know when or how many vaccine doses we're going to be given by the Thai government, and we'll get back to you whenever we find out."  Thus far, a week later and now a week before the supposed official start, not a peep further from Vimut.

The other thing the Thai government has never publicly talked about is just what the daily capacity for giving vaccines will be at either Vimut or the second center in Bangkok.

At some of the government's large public vaccination centers they've run in recent times, they had capacity to do up to several thousand people per day per site. No info on that regarding vaccinations for expats...

But, when the Ministry of Public Health a week or so back opened the Bangrak Vaccination and Health Center in Bangkok and began vaccinating Chinese nationals there, I believe the government said that one center could handle 180!!! vaccinations per day...

At that rate, it's likely to be one Heck of a long queue....

"Chinese-donated supplies of the Sinovac vaccine will be administered by the Bangrak Vaccination and Health Centre in the capital, with the aim of vaccinating 180 people a day."

Even at 200K vaccinations a day, in will be Jan next year so that 70% would have gotten one shot only. We are nowhere near 200K shots a day, and I'm not sure that can be achieved, even if all available nurses are vaccinating (they have normal duties as well). MTT and Bang Sue can do about 10K a day, but then we need another 18 sites that can do similar numbers. I envisage most of the vaccines will be used in the dark red zones, so anyone living up country is in for a long wait. Maybe herd immunity will not be reached until 2022, and by that time we may need different vaccines to better deal with mutations.

From reading online news reports, it appears there are issues with getting Sinovac and being able to enter various countries, as it is not an approved vaccine.

I would rather get Astra Zeneca shot.  China is also only allowing China made vaccines for travel within their provinces.  Not that this affects me as I won't be going to China.  But other countries I may in the future and I do not want to be barred from entering.

My country - Australia does not currently recognise Sinovac either.  China is currently punishing Australia with trade tariffs and barred certain imports, because our government dared ask for an inquiry into the origins of the virus.  How dare we ask for that!

People are also suspicious of Sinovac and many things China related, due to allegations of secrecy, cover ups, lack of transparency (no access for WHO investigation team to enter Wuhan for a very long time), blame shifting, etc, from the CCP ever since this pandemic.  Just stating what a lot of people feel.

Can people on tourist visa register? Is it only sinovac

every expat  means anybody who is not  a Thai citizen. You should be OK.

But why would you get your vaccine in thailand when you are just staying for 60 days only.? signing up for appointment may roll over your 60days stay

The government has announced that you do not have a choice which vaccine you will be getting.  It depends on availability.

Good luck

It is just a reassuring news that you need to register  for the vaccines in order to get an appointment.  -normal procedure for administer of the vaccines.

The type of vaccine administer always depends on supply and demand. You read a lot about all type level of efficiency. The reassurance is that any vaccine can save your life.

there should no issue regarding the time table or the vaccines.

Even being inject with any vaccines, there is a fear that this virus will mutate again and all of us in the world may need a booster shot

That is a major concern in the medical world. So go ahead and take your shot  as soon as you can

These countries have nto yet set requirements for vaccination to persons entering so impossible to say.

Will those with Mor Prom appts need to re register, or will those still be OK when we turn up?

That depends on which of the “official” announcements you choose to believe. I’ve seen it previously written where registrations made on the Mor Prom app will be honored and then again I’ve seen written where the Mor Prom registrations are going to be disregarded.

Thailand has always been a total ****up. If you don't accept it, why did you stay here?

i agree..

instead of complaining about living in thailand . you do not fit well . I recommend to either happily accept  living in Thailand or just go back home or move to another country.

with all the Thai rules and procedures in Thailand, it  is far better place to live  than other countries including your home country.

I would laugh except I like most retired expats here have lots of pre-existing conditions which makes our mortality very much at risk if we were to catch Covid 19.

I am not worried about paying for it, I just want to get my jab and finally end this nightmare.

I agree completely. I am so maddened by the constant false messaging and confusion that I am now seriously thinking about a return to my home country and then come back on the Phuket Sandbox plan (if that actually gets going).

After reading this 'official' government announcement I tried to register at various central BKK hospitals. Firstly I tried 3 of the international hospitals that I have frequented and spent significant sums of money at in the last 15 years being resident in Thailand. Being a type 2 diabetic and having a serious spinal medical condition the 2 major operations and rehabilitation that I paid for privately, as I cannot get private medical insurance because of an existing medical history, are well in excess of 6M Baht. All three passed me round and round where staff professed to speak 'little' English. I was cut off 4 times... par for the course there then. Eventually I was informed, or called back by someone that spoke English, that it was Thais first and that they had not been informed when or how they could register 'internationals'. Having run a business here promoting Thailand domestically and internationally for the last 10 years I have paid income tax, corporation tax, VAT and SS and employed countless Thai nationals. I have also bought 3 condos, built houses, supported extended Thai families, bought 7 cars and 8 motorcycles and therefore I feel have contributed to the Thai economy. Sorry but I cannot help feeling a little disappointed by the constant displays of xenophobia that I am met with in the Land of Smiles... and you want us to help you recover tourism and the international interest in Thailand?

Same experience as me but with the Mrs calling, language seems to have made little difference, mai kow jai at every Hospital we contacted. Seems what the government announces has little to do with what is being communicated to Hospitals, which seems to be not very much at all. Amazing incompetence.

Basically they don't care about what you write on that form. The goal is getting it signed as guaranty for the 2 last lines.

Then, let's call it even. I don't care about what they say.

I will go to my local hospital on June 7.

I will also enquire with what brand of jab they intend to stick me with.

If the words 'sinovac' are uttered by anyone at the hospital I shall be walking straight back out the door.

My arm, my choice.

yes, and I doubt Sinovac is acceptable for your future traveling

They brought out it’s mor prom app to register it’s on citizens and is now defunct. Part of the headline that there’s enough for everyone, it’s just total bullsh#t and click bait, because that is totally not the truth, spoken by someone who is involved in the vaccine roll out.    many if not the majority of Thai people   are aware of the BS that comes out of Bangkok, and every further statement we hear just further erodes any credibility. If Anything positive is accomplished during this vaccine roll out, credit needs to be given where credit is due, each provincial government

There are others who will be more than pleased to exchange vaccine with you since there is a shortage now.

Yes, we should all have a choice to choose what vaccines we want for our body.
