  • I expect the UK will soonbe offering the same service to British expats over the age of 97.

  • Only until they discover there are two 98 year old Brits here. Then the bar will be adjusted to 99.

  • The trend had been quite clear ever since the suspension of the 'Income Verification" letters. The US/UK/AUS....couldn't give a hoot about their citizens abroad.

Not correct. I know of one Brit who died from Covid in Thailand earlier this year.

Wasn't there one who actually just arrived back into Thailand?

Hats off to the French.

Mind you it's just salt into the wound for this down trodden Aussie lad. Hoping in vain that his useless Oz embassy would ever step up to the plate

I sent an email to my local MP in Australia stating the benefits of returning citizens being vaccinated, one being the low chances of infection and causing lockdowns from virus escape from quarantine hotels.

There will be 10.000 doses available. Official as of yesterday...

I see my post has attracted over 100 laughing Emolji which should be amusing but is in fact very sad that so many have such a low opinion of the British gov and their general lack of concern for their citizens overseas.

I see your point but as those laughing ones indeed do indicate a low opinion of the British Government/Embassy, sad really because 30 to 40 years they used to be quite helpful. Now whether that was a result of having a more dominant Ambassador(s) in those times or British policy was different then I have no idea.  I suspect it will get no better with Boris as PM and Dominic Raab as Foreign Secretary when it comes to helping their nationals overseas albeit for covid vaccinations or other matters, look at the issue of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe as an example of the latter.

So much for the "How could it be done?" argument.

Easy, import the vaccine and pay Thai hospitals to administer it.

I will gladly pay for both the vaccine and a cover charge for the Thai hospital.

"a cover charge for the Thai hospital." How long does it take to administer the vaccine, about 2 mins? A profit of at least maybe 3000Bt.

So 2 mins of the hospitals time for each French person, so in one hour, about 50 people vaccinated.

So at least 150,000Bt profit in one hour for the hospital.

There will be a pre-vaccine check by a nurse of BP, temperature, weight etc, as there always is in Thai hospitals.

allez...ce jour....qui........JFI......Inoculation of French Nationals in Thailand, aged 55 and over, begins Today (June 23) for Two weeks at Eight hospitals across the country, according to the French Embassy in Bangkok.

Vaccination is on a voluntary basis and free of charge, as it is being subsidized by the French government, the embassy’s statement reads.
The vaccine being administered is Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen.
May be an image of text that says "NBT WORLD Inoculation of French nationals aged 55+ in Thailand begins today"

It's a baseline but probably way off if they go by the number of people who register with their embassy OR if they try to pull the data from Thai immigration (if that's even possible).

Seriously, the British Embassy should get off their backsides and arrange something similar for UK expats.  You might think that they would be shamed into doing something but I guess that the chances of anything happening are slim to none!

I am currently in the Philippines and the local government has arranged for all people over 65, local or foriegner and priority vaccinating free of charge in a well conducted program for which I am extremely grateful.

Wonder if the French Embassy would accept a "UK European Health Insurance Card".....for  a Jab......Suspect however that "break<deleted>".... messed that opportunity up...How stupid can any country be....arggg.....

...en tout cas bravo France oui....
