The National Vaccine Institute said that 186 volunteers have joined the clinical trials, to test their immune response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. All of them had received their second dose of Sinovac vaccine at least two before the trial

Hello Delta variant... ohhh lets start again.

There is a BIG difference between saying 95% of people developing an immune response and saying what the headline says, "Two doses of Sinovac can stop spread of COVID-19".  The latter simply isn't supported by ANY evidence, including the "evidence" in this so-called study.

The article starts with this (hopefully true) great news...

And then falls off the rails as the sentence continues...

No, no, no, no, no.   An immune response on a petri dish does NOT mean a vaccinated person can't still catch the virus and transmit it to others!

The sentence concludes by attributing the claim...

Well, we don't have a link to any data.

Well, there are no links to the study's findings and no links to any data.  We don't know how or what they actually tested.  We don't know anything about the study except for what the author of this piece wrote.  And the article doesn't even have an author named, so there's no way to find out if the author even has a basic understanding of the science.

Basically the article is worthless, though the study may not be.  We just don't know what the study actually says.

If anyone finds a link to it, I hope you'll post it here.

Not to mention that recent studies in the Seychelles, Mongolia, Bahrain and Chile all show some indication that Sinovac is not very effective at stopping transmission and some people getting two jabs are still getting Covid-19, albeit mild cases.  In response to this, the Chinese themselves state that Sinovac is designed to stop serious disease and hospitalization, not to necessarily stop transmission of the virus.  https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/how-countries-are-struggling-with-chinese-vaccines/articleshow/83769994.cms

About 95% of those who have received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine have developed an immune response which prevents the spread of SARS-CoV-2, or COVID-19

more than 70% of the 171 volunteers had developed an immune response strong enough to prevent the spread of the virus in laboratory tests.

So both 95% and 70% have developed a response that stops the spread of covid-19?

Can anyone explain this?

As it is this doesn't seem particularly reliable.

Good to hear this, and to see that it was a joint US-Thai effort that produced these results.

Hopefully this will help reassure some of those of those on the fence to get vaccinated! ????‍⚕️

baloney! they can stick this vaccine where they can stick the others.

And the 171 volunteers walked straight to the next car dealer to order a new motor.

A recent study done in Hong Kong doesn't really advocate Sinovac ...  Especially when the Delta variant Covid-19 virus is present.

https://www.thaienquirer.com/28831/delta-variants-danger-and-new-studies-raises-questions-about-thai-vaccine-program/

But the application of the Sinovac vaccine is problematic. Emerging data shows that the current vaccines, especially the ones with lower efficacy rates like the Sinovac, are not effective in stopping the transmission of the Delta variant.

Even a leading Thai Dr. proposed farangs entering the Phuket sandbox with Sinovac vaccination should not be let into the sandbox.  (Yet, a large number of people in Phuket were vaccinated with Sinovac by Thai Gov.)

Placebo effect.

Until it goes wrong.

Doubtful.  It sounds like the results are being misrepresented in the article.  Hopefully most people are smart enough to see through it.

it good for everyone to be able to find and get vaccinated no matter WHAT country supply's it. we need to recover from this virus so as to have our lives back to enjoy

Doesn't look like you'll be getting your life back because it no longer belongs to you it belongs to the state, wake up and realise it, and you didn't even get a chance to kiss it good bye! This was all predicted in the movie V For Vendetta!

The variant has wrecked UK and soon in US. It may caused another resurgence of Covid-19 in US. Hospitalisation is up in some states due to this variant. Bottom line, get you jab with whatever is available now. Delta variant is more transmissible and deadly. Do yourself a favour and those around you.

medical professionals growing distrust of this lousy ineffective vaccine.

Hyperbole....

It is not 'ineffective'. It appears to be of quite poor efficacy against some variants, especially after a single jab, but numbers are better after a second jab and a few weeks incubation.

Some other brands have produced better numbers... but are not available here yet.

You can trust the Chinese vaccine or you don't.

I don't trust it.

Seconds, since we do know, that Thailand powerfull mostly have chinese roots, we should understand, why the Chinese vac is so heavily surpported.

You don't decide on a serious medical decision on ethnicity or race or even emotion. Should be based on scientific merits and availability. It is your life and those around that your decision will affect.

Oh please!

"JAKARTA (Reuters) -- More than 350 Indonesian doctors have contracted COVID-19 despite being vaccinated with Sinovac, and dozens have been hospitalized, officials said, as concerns rise about the efficacy of some vaccines against more virulent virus strains."

Sinovac isn't much help with the Delta variant.  This variant will be the dominant one here in a few months.

Silly boy. Still barking up that 'data tree'? Don't bother.

There is no squirrel there. They've all long since been sold in the Wuhan Wet Market.

That old link..... there are plenty of links which present an alternative view... I simply rejected your drama-queen use of 'ineffective'.

Vaccines stay effective in reducing symptoms in Delta-hit Indonesia: Sinovac.

Here is more on what you posted....

I just received an email from the Canadian Embassy about easing border measures, and they mentioned that Canada doesn't recognize Sinovac and won't except that people to forgo 14 day quarantine upon arrivial. These are the requirements, at least for Canadians. The accepted vaccines are:

  • Pfizer (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)

  • Moderna (mRNA-1273)

  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, AZD1222, Covishield)

  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) - single dose

That's funny!

Considering that Trudeau and his wife received Astra Zeneca vaccine.

I keep seeing people clinging on to this 350 number....  350 doctors in Indonesia contracted Covid-19.

The number means nothing without the number of Doctors who were vaccinated !!...

An outbreak in Kudus (Indonesia) has 5000 health care workers who have been vaccinated of which 350 tested positive.

There seems to be a Sinovac witch hunt and headlines are loading the bias....  while Sinovac is not the best vaccine - its still proving to be effective. If it is the only vaccine available it has already saved lives.

Guest Harm Hendrik Reitsma

nobody seems to remember, mentioned is "the vaccin is agreed to for experimental use in case of emergency" by the health authority. The long-term efficacy is unknown and even vaccinated you can get the virus.. So it still can not save you, but not mentioned is that for instance Ivermectin and HCQ in combination with Vitamin D can save your life, in most cases you will not get really sick when use this. This is used in India and Argentina and proofs to be a real lifesaver! I just wanted to mention these results, so you can find out.

Be save out there!
