PHUKET: About 30% of people arriving to enter Phuket by road yesterday (July 15) were refused entry for failing to satisfy the new entry requirements for those coming from the 34 ‘red’ and ‘dark-red’ COVID high-risk provinces, according to local officials.

“In general, the entering and checking process at the checkpoint was good and smooth. Arrivals who want to enter the island prepared their documents to show to officers,” said a report by the Phuket office of Public Relation Department, also repeated through national state news agency NNT.

“However, about 30% of arrivals could not present required documents to officers and were denied, as they had come from the 34 provinces. Most of them had been fully vaccinated but were unable to present a test result,” the report explained.

It states they didn't have a "test result"...I assume that is PCR or a rapid antigen test.

I would have thought that a vaccination certificate , would have been proof that you had been vaccinated .

I read on another report that people arriving in Phuket were required to have had two vaccinations and at least one of them had to be something other than the Sino vaccine .

Two doses of the Sino vaccine wasn't acceptable

As does most of the worlds authorities are not accepting Sinovac jabs as being vaccinated against the virus. I wouldn't... Would you?

Your not reading the OP, they don't care less about which vaccine , they want a negative test result

Perhaps people should try taking the rapid antigen test kit with them and take it on the spot.

See what they do then ????????????
However, more likely they want a PCR test.

Not only is vaccine apartheid coming, but for those who actually take the "official, authorized" shots, many will be discriminated against and shunned for being inoculated with the wrong brand of the three vaccines which are 'officially authorized' by Thailand as well as the WHO.

"But, I've had two shots of the WHO and Thai FDA authorized Sinovac vaccines!"
Not good enough - stay out unclean person!

You can't make this up.  This is more entertaining than dystopian fiction.

Well now the opening of the great international fly, domestic tourism including expats will not be able to enter Phuket, Kao Samui, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Bangkok unless vaccinated and with PCR or rapid test.

Great minds TAT

Mingling with unknown people with live fire bouncing off building and ripping through trees is what I called 'unpredictable dangerous times.'

This? "Pandemic?" <laughs>  Not my definition of dangerous.  Driving on Thai roads is more 'dangerous.'

However, with that said, I'd just as soon the government seal the borders of dark red and red zones.  That's just being cautious.  They could have nipped this in the bud.  Instead they choose let it spread.  Who want's a nasty flu?

Heck, I was walking around Chiang Mai this week.  There's nobody on the streets!  Whole sidewalks to myself. Fresh air, sunshine, UV light - and me.  It's about as safe as walking out in the rural rice-fields around my home.
My party days are over.  Been there, done that.  Had fun.  It's not like I'm planning to go drinking and dancing with the Bangkok elites at their Thong Lor nightclubs.  I'll leave that for the young, dumb, and full of....youthful exuberance.

Living life fully as a youth is often defined by pushing the boundaries of 'danger.'  It's a rite of passage.  And the chances of healthy young people dying of this virus is about zip.  Dangerous?  Less than driving a motorcycle without a helmet.  And most of those fools are wearing masks in the ultimate irony.

The link to this report?

From July 15-31, all arrivals from red or dark red-zones must be ‘fully vaccinated’ (or received one injection of the AstraZeneca vaccine) at least 14 days before arriving, or they must have been discharged from hospital from recovering from COVID-19 no more than 90 days before arriving.

However, they MUST ALSO provide evidence that they tested negative for the virus through an RT-PCR test or a Rapid Antigen Test no more than seven days before travelling to Phuket.

This is simply not true, the majority of the countries accept Sinovac vaccination certificates, including many EU countries. Your world appears to be too small. Sinovac and Sinopharm are WHO approved, and as a result many countries included them in the approved list.

Rapid antigen test is accepted too, but not sure how one can print the result if they require it on paper on the spot ????

Such a high number of denials indicates that they have done a poor job communicating their new requirements.

That was a requirement a few days ago but a day or so ago, they added the neg test result for vaccinated visitors too. I know, it's hard to keep up with the latest developments.

So they are no longer offering rapid test upon entry at the bridge and airport for 600 baht? ????

Wish they would say "land arrivals" in the headline.

I was primed to be righteously outraged about the "Sandbox" gambit.

Have to wait for a good un now.????

Can we have a source? It is the forum rules to give a source when making such claims.

Or are you spreading misinformation again?
