I really would miss beer though especially during the hotter seasons. But there's always soda water.

Soda water? You need whisky.

Id give up coffee. Drink tea. Beer is too yummy

As an American, I don't think tea can EVER really replace coffee. I do drink tea as well. Green tea in the afternoon.

Of course no need to give up either unless you have health problems.

This poll is not about need. It's about pain.

American? Same stomach as everyone else.

I prefer ice coffee. Although cacao could replace it.

Coffee ice cream is good.

I know exactly what you're saying. Thailand is a beer country on steroids. But actually I'm not surprised.

Coffee is very powerful.

It's addictive.

It wakes us up in the morning.

It literally chases the poop out.

If we need to focus on something tedious, it's speed in a cup.

And some of us actually like the taste.

I like my coffee strong and black.

One thing I have almost completely given up in Thailand is wine. I just can't stomach the rip off prices.

I am also an coffee fan, or more precise an espresso fan, obviously black.

I like a beer from time to time but even pre Covid I had weeks without even one beer.

And I agree with the wine. What should cost 200B cost at least 5 times as much.

I drink green tea I boil with fresh pulverized ginger. It's an acquired taste to be sure, but the health benefits are great!

Since when do Americans drink coffee?

I always see them ordering Americano, some want extra water.

A horrible mixture.

Starbucks is American coffee. To be fair it's better than Nescafe.

But far away from Italian Espresso.

Or to paraphrase Bill Kilgore: I love the smell and taste of Lavazza in the morning.

CHANG have made it simple to have both at the same time with their Coffee flavoured Beer in 500ml cans !

And what's the result? Something that doesn't taste like beer and doesn't taste like coffee. What's the point?

Never liked coffee, was always a tea drinker, still am. Used to have to take a forced random coffee when I worked in the corporate world of endless meetings and nobody ever thought someone my not want coffee.

So I will stick to beer, though recently, due the fact I can only buy Leo and Chang, I have gone off beer too, only having one or two once or twice a week. An hour drive to buy even Singha or Heineken at a MiniC, and 3 hours to buy any foreign beers.

As long as I can get a selection of teas I am happy. Except when the wife keeps breaking the teapot lids, we're an on to the 3rd teapot now.

Thanks again for a non-vaccine related post.

No way in hell could I live in a place that far from a Singha!

It's awful. Mine went down the sink as I couldn't finish the can. The only plus point is that your first sip of an average beer after it tastes divine!

I thought that's exactly how it would go down - right down the drain.

The same reason I didn't include kumquat juice?

Just kidding, I understand that to many people their tea is to them as coffee is to coffee heads.

I suggest just making an imaginary substitution, and vote away!

Why didn't you post: Coffee / Tea ,?????? 555555 Or Beer.....

Even a beverage thread a springboard to another tedious anti-American jab.

At the prime Starbucks nearby in  Chiang Mai If I wanted hot coffee I would order an "Americano" as they don't do the regular drip you must queue at a fancy-pants counter where a Barista bespoke grinds and prepares single servings using devices resembling a chemistry set. Takes at least 10 minutes.

By the way STARBUCKS ground french roast from a supermarket is superior to any local grown coffee,

in my honest opinion,  I wont waste any more money on it.
