Annoying ads

Featured Replies

As of this morning, advertisement panels are popping up across the page I'm trying to read. If you try and delete one, up pops another one. I quite understand that the Forum is a business which can only function with advertising revenue, and I don't use an ad-blocker. However, this latest development is intrusive and irritating, and if it continues I will be logging on far less frequently, if at all.

A screenshot of the adverts that are blocking content would help the tech guy relocate them if possible.

I am having the same problem as the OP on my smartphone and share his sentiments about spending time on the site. I haven't the foggiest idea how to send a screen shot so I would hope that a fix could still be found.

Do the screenshot (varies from phone to phone), save it, start a post and then choose the file to upload.

This is at the bottom of the page when you select reply.

I’m getting this problem starting from today. Do I post screen shots of the adverts to this thread?

Like this for instance. But others are further up the screen, blocking me from reading posts.

Looking using W10 PC. No ads whatsoever.

The ads cover content, and if you click the cross to remove them, you get an error message.

With the pop up ads, banner ads and sliding ads, this site is the most ad-infested site in the universe.

The small one on the right is the real villain. It's a Google ad. When editing or typing a post it blocks a lot of the screen so you can't see your input. If you enlarge the screen, it reveals an X top left hand, but if you click it, it takes you to a system error message about not being able to locate whatever. The tiny X top right hand is Google's attempt at user choice but the X is unclickable. If you're lucky and extremely dextrous, you'll get Google's stupid menu with a list of why you don't want this rubbish on your screen. And we bang on about Thai programmers. This takes the biscuit.

Same same, very annoying pop-up that stays on top and can't close going to another page with an error.

Bottom line - your browser your choice; take responsibility for your own environment.

Let's not talk about this until the cows come home. Maybe the "tech doctor" is the problem. And when you try to delete this it just opens it.

Tech Doctor is aware of the problem and is working with the people responsible for the ads to get it sorted out.

Currently signed in to TV using Opera browser on my Vivo V9. Android 9. No ads whatsoever.

UPDATE using Brave on Vivo V9: Brave browser also displays no ads either.

yes , this is the same position, annoying trying to read a post and can't remove it, it opens another page when you click the X.

I seriously cannot even type a message without being blocked. I need to type this blind. Hope for no typos.

Just install a browser which will solve this problem.

Firefox and then install specific addons

Bromite browser (basically chrome browser with enhanced privacy)

Kiwi browser

Brave browser

Firefox focus

Those browsers are known to alleviate the symptoms of popups and ads and will greatly enhance your browsing experience.

And when you click on a photo to check it out, it stays lol. Completely unworkable IMO. It’s a disservice to the people paying for the ads I think.

I am sure the responsible people from this forum could easily remove all those annoying ads - if they would want to do that...

Not only on hand held devices. Apple mac using Google chrome.  Cannot close the advert,

Is there some reason you do not install specific edgebrowser addons?
