40 of Thailand’s leading CEOs have called on the government to get the COVID-19 pandemic under control, compensate people who have been adversely impacted by it, boost the economy and rehabilitate the country, while rejecting the idea of a “Wuhan” style lockdown, according to Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.

During a video conference, with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday (Wednesday) and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, to seek cooperation between the public and private sectors in finding solutions to the raging pandemic, the “40 CEO Plus” group said the private sector is ready to support the government with Rapid Test kits, medicines, hospital beds and intensive care units, including digital technologies and innovations to assist with home isolation programs.

The group said the government’s relief packages should be expanded to include businesses which have been ordered to close, including those within the supply chain, as well as solving the labour shortage.

At least there are some people talking sense to the PM. Hopefully he listens to these instead of the scientists and hysterical media.

Strange analogy. They did choose the horse and now they are asking the horse to do something. Why do you think they chose the horse?

“Wuhan” style lockdown,

What is a Wuhan style lockdown.  Announcing that you have contained the Covid 19 and misrepresenting how many people were actually infected?

Sure, and there's no conflict of interest when these people give their heavenly advice. I couldn't think of such things ever happened in LOS. Do CP group and Sinovac purchase ring a bell????

A Wuhan style lockdown would destroy the country completely.  The government in power needs to find the money it has embezzled and filled their pockets with to return it to the people and then buy the needed vaccines.  They need to support all individuals that they have disenfranchised, its the only way or Thailand will be no more. Yes a little over the top maybe but truth be told unless they start to help all they are in for a world of hurt.  As The great and honorable PM said " What will be will be " so it really sounds like he doesn't give a sheet

It took 77 days to eliminate the virus in Wuhan.  If the Thai government had put in a Wuhan lockdown last year the virus would be gone now as it is in China even without vaccines.  Instead they prolonged the dying and the recession.

And it would have come right back again when restrictions were lifted.

These 40 should push the government to get everybody vaccinated faster.

Perhaps they should combine some of their great wealth and add it to the PM's donated salary, and buy a lot of vaccines? Maybe?

How about a special "CEO tax" of about 50 percent on all assets for the duration of the emergency? All money to go to people without food or shelter or people losing jobs or small shopowners forced to close.

I'm sorry,  gone? Eliminate? On what planet do you live?

Airborne viruses lives in the air for long periods of time when not multiplying and thriving in a host/s. There's nothing to stop Covid-19 than to get vaccinated, nothing, no lock downs, just delaying, no social distancing as the virus can travel quite far, true there are some benefits but only delays. Only vaccine can put the virus into some sort of rest.

They come to suspected infected people's homes, install a large metal bar on the doors, so they can't escape and contaminate others..

Bunch of billionaires, who were stupid to spend a baht for vaccines, ie prevention of the economic crisis.

Same the government, partially advices by the same group of billionaires.

Those useless stimulus of go travel together, or pay half or 2000thb checks....all could in a timely manner buy good vaccines and prevent the very cause by large that created the need for those programs the first place.

Thailand started a lot better position than Europe, yet Europe is open now, and Thailand is deep in <deleted>.

The virus was gone and now its back so what was the point of all the suffering in the first lockdown. You know what it will still be there after this lockdown.

No but to leave fast.

Yes, by all means, let's have more government funding bailouts/compensation to the nation's biggest corporations...

Because, lord knows, they haven't already made enough barrels of profits over the past years and swelled Thailand's ranks of corporate billionaires...

All the while, COVID cases are dying in the streets, dying at home because they can't get admitted to any hospital, and the countless numbers of ordinary Thais thrown out of work have received somewhere between nothing and a pittance in direct government financial support.

By all means, let's crank up the corporate welfare!

Hey, one guy runs a pizza business. Others rent out hotel rooms. Obviously, these are advanced thinkers in public policy and health.

He's got stores up north, too. You can't miss them. But I make my own pizza from scratch, so I don't know how his taste.

Isn't there something about leading them to water but not counting them before they hatch? Or is it something about not looking in their mouths while making hay?
