Now in an BP article the navy says that after covid military tensions might rise so they need the subs. I don't see the Asean doing any infighting. If there will be an enemy it will be China anyway. Im sure there are trackers in their subs the Thais don't know about. So they would be useless.

 

Anyway most resistance against China would be useless its not as if anyone besides the US can do anything against China anyway.

 

Monumental waste of money those subs.

Which one of the highly qualified admirals will pilot the sub? Or, will they require a Chinese captain? Provided at no charge, of course. The Chinese can be so courteous at times.

So might be a good idea to cancel the subs this time… Maybe get some other land based military-hardware instead, just in case of a civil war. (Which is more likely, as Thai people are getting more and more upset)

IMHO the purchase of submarines was, and is, a bribe to buy the RTN Admirals' support for the coup.

 

The RTN has a history of attempting a counter-coup, albeit nearly 70 years ago, and is the second largest group of military personnel in Thailand.

Here's the deal, like it or not there is nothing we can do, only read and accept.  Even if we disagree, what can or are WE going to do????????

The way its shaping up its more likely the threat will come from a civil war.

Wonder if there will be dual pricing for tours of the subs docked up in Rayong or where ever.

Defense spending has nothing to do with 'national defense'.... it's more a giant pool of money the generals get to steal from.  And the army is not there to 'defend' the country....they're only there to protect the generals (while they're stealing) from the Thai people.
