Pattaya is a big red light district. And sadly this kind of business has a problem now. Perhaps it should try to get transformed into a high quality family tourist destination and/or a normal city like Bangkok that doesn't depend on party and sex tourism so much. But not everything is lost. There is still a stretch even now in front of Tree Town with many hookers and farangs every day. It seems to be an allowed area - we had the same last year. Sadly at this time an entertainer picked up at this party mile got killed by a Farang. Was in the news everywhere. Hard to forget. And one more thing is surprising. Many shops close but they build new bars like crazy - now at this time. So the future of Pattaya might be - more of what it has been already.

Yes. Perhaps created by a frustrated Farang bar owner.

Bangkok and Phuket?

posted this in the morning on the Pattaya vaccine roll out thread.

My guess it will be provided free to those getting the shots.

Hope you are right, outrageous otherwise, when you consider the massive daily food handouts being provided and funded by both good hearted Thais and Westerners.

very much exaggerated .....     nothing to do with covid,  it was the greedy landlords who wanted too much and forced everyone out,.

It was worse and more of a ghost town last year.  Don't get me wrong it's bad, but at least now there have been more foreigners that have returned and are pumping some money.  I have videos last year when it was way empty.  But this time it just has caught up.

I find the title of this thread in poor taste.

While times are tougher than normal, Pattaya residents have never faced hardships such as those faced by the citizens of some of the belligerent nations during WWII.

The Thai government has again, totally failed in its duty to its own citizens, especially residents of Pattaya, but this is what happens when you have a low-brow mafia in control.

This verse from the Bible came to mind:-

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

- Galatians 6:7

It would be a good setting for a Zombie movie though. In fact I was expecting some to come out when I was watching the video. ????????

Very good and true quote.

These people went to Pattaya with no shame to give them sexual pleasures, they should go back where they came from, they will be looked after, especially as they were sending back Gunther, Bert, and Svenn's hard earned cash. No one starves in Thailand, they are not willing to lose face and go home but looking for the farang to help them out.

There are for sure many entertainers in Pattaya. But the funny fact is that officially there is no prostitution in Pattaya. I forgot now how I wanted to continue...

Greedy landlords find a way to keep collecting rent even when business is closed. Only stupid landlords kick renters out and leave their properties vacant for years.

This might be true for many businesses. But again - in Pattaya they build new entertainment venues like crazy. If I have time I will take a picture of the one at Tree Town with palm trees and a pool and post it here. In respect of Tree Town - there are hotels and condos around it. But nobody seems to care about this and the noise.

The reality strange thing is that we read every day how much the government cares. But in reality...

Tree Town has created even more bars to be in competition with existing existing bars, many of them "bricks and mortar" bars, as in, shop houses etc, all of whom pay big rent.

So, Tree Town may thrive, post covid, but only at a cost of other bars.

The pie can only be cut into so many slices before it gets too thin to pay the bills.

As I have said in the past, it's a race to the bottom here, and those with the cheapest rent will prevail.

Of course, everyone knows more about Pattaya than the next guy.  Just ask them, they'll tell you.  ????

Not if you have been living here for more than 30 years every day.

A lot of long timers are "boiling frogs."  They have no idea.

No sympathy for the CSWs, with the prices they charge!

Any of them working just a few years ought to have a mil in the bank.

Be honest, we know its bad but if Thailand does not open up fully without daft hoops and stuff in the very near future, its going to get a hell of a lot worse next year

Okay - now please explain to me why you have more knowledge. Here are many sex addicts and alcoholics - I agree. But here are also people that came to this place - simply because... I don't write the answers. I never ever would use one of the endless prostitutes here. I didn't come to Thailand because of this. But locations like Pattaya confirm that I am here for other reasons.

I never said I have more knowledge.  I am always learning here.

I have met many expats here who have been in Thailand many more years than me, yet, when you ask them where they have been in Thailand, all they know is Pattaya / Phuket / Hua Hin etc and "the village" in issan.

Many of them haven't even visited another country in South East Asia, yet, will tell you how Thailand is the best country in South East Asia.  Credibility ZERO for me.
