Where would you choose to be for the next 12 months? If you could be Whisked Off on a Magic Carpet, all expenses paid, Where would you Be?

I have friends who went there just for fun. They said it was one of the scariest places they had ever been.

And American desperados pay 26,000 baht for an hour of that. What can one even say?

I spent 2 weeks as a Mustangs regular in the 80's. It was Hot Babe City. Why have they allowed it to devolve? Bloody shame.

Am I allowed to change the magic carpet to an airplane , its just I am afraid of heights and I think I could easily fall off a magic carpet.......even if it seat belts.  ???? thank you.

  • I'd stay in Bangkok, if only because I wouldn't want to miss the reopening, which will be spectacular.

  • The reopening. Two coups and five years later.    ????

Lived on and off the Island of Aruba for 7 years ! Had a beautiful Caribbean style house ! I often think of visiting  it again!

The island is 20 or so miles long by 8 or so miles wide ! Average daytime temp 82F ! Nights 75F.

All the beaches are public,  even at the resorts !

Life was a beach and it was 5 pm all day !

OMG !Those beaches of white sand and turquoise waters ,were to die for. !

When I'm ready to soil the bed and I'm conscious  ,this is what I'll be thinking of,my Aruba ! Baby Beach near the town of St Nickolas

All expenses paid? Regardless of cost? Sardinia? South coast of Turkey. Monaco. St. Lucia. I could go on and on.

In 2005 I had to retire for medical reasons. I travelled extensively in North America for work, but had never been out of it. I asked two friends that had completely different jobs, but one thing in common, they took every opportunity to travel. One told me St Lucia, the other said Thailand. I chose Thailand but often wish I had at least gone to see St. Lucia. Great photos.

Some of the fattest, most overpriced, and ugliest hooks in America. At $800 a pop, you are far better off staying closer to home!

Right where I am.  I've carved out my own little bit of paradise here, and I'm quite happy to stay in it.  In fact, I was just laying back by the pool today, the grandson and friends were splashing about, the smell of good food cooking wafted over from the kitchen, music was playing in the background, and a light breeze was taking the edge off the sun and gently moving the palm trees about, and I think(ed) to myself, what a wonderful world.

As we all realize, hooking is not a career that one chooses when one is still in elementary school. This is why the trade is called the Meat Market.

When I get to Ellesmere Island, aboard my magic carpet, I will land in a pristine place, pristine in body and mind.

I will not peer at women.

Instead, I will peer at heavenly bodies using my small telescope.

I know that I will never actually GET to Ellesmere.

Just a dream.

The reason I will never get there is because, I do not see the point in going there.

It's only a fantasy.

Sometimes, adults must distinguish between fantasy and reality.

Still, it is the dream that keeps us alive, maybe.

And, maybe it is self-restraint which protects us from eating too much sugar.

Sugar.

Ah, honey, honey.

You are my candy girl

Au contraire, some "alternative careers" are thought out way earlier than you think:

St. Lucia looks very nice. Amazing they have 2 airports, can't be that big a demand for domestic flights on a 20 mile island.

You must have found a place where you had both dark sky and clear sky, maybe.

Maybe you captured these images from some other desert?

I don't have any photographic equipment, but this morning I took a few pictures with 30 s exposure with my phone.

Plenty of clear night sky in Thailand.

Why not bring a slightly bigger telescope, some photographic equipment, a PC and you can take pictures like the below fairly easy.

That's very impressive!  But just to comment, the impressive part is more down to your friend's skills at computer imaging and editing, because that picture is using simulated/false colours to make it look impressive, (and there is nothing wrong with that at all!).

I do similar things with data from geo-stationary weather satellites.  The data that I receive from the satellite typically looks like this:

but after computer editing, it looks like this:

Hideaway Island.

Closest to heaven I have ever been and I have been there many times.

Awesome place, lovely people. (Mostly!)

Seriously could do a Tom Hanks survival here in luxury.

According to increasing climate change and melting ice and rising seas you might be drowned soon.

Hurry up ????

I'm perfectly all right on the paradise island where my previous magic carpet ride took me to, so for now I just let my magic carpets rest on the floor; the dogs love to sleep on the carpets, perhaps they are taken to a wonderful somewhere in their dreams...????
