Why has the written content in the Pub Forum improved so dramatically and markedly, since the virus first struck?

These days, reading what is written on this forum, one cannot but think that something is not the same.

It is not just that we all necessarily feel greater empathy for our fellow posters.

More than this, it seems apparent that the content has shifted upward to a higher moral ground.

No doubt, you have felt this, too.

You realize that the majority of those who post here, now, are not the same as those who posted here three years ago. Nobody is taking cheap shots at one another, as they once gleefully tried to do, so sadly.

In my opinion, this is a very good thing.

Why?

For one, during these times, joking around just for joking’s sake is no longer amusing, knowing that so many are hurting.  Just check it out.  Frivolously joking around is no longer fun.

For two, one might guess that the sillier posters have either left Thailand, or have died from Covid.

In point of fact, I had, several weeks ago, noticed a more humane way most posters post, and a much more enlightened and learned way they post, as well.

It seems to me that the posters here are now fuller of wisdom than had been the case three years ago.

We can only assume that the posters on this forum are guys and girls who are older, and who have more life experience, and who are more interesting.

I am sure that this is true.  I know it.  Because, as any old guy will tell you, the most boring thing you might do is to engage in “conversation” with someone half your age, even if you might be divorced and free in Thailand.

The KEY point of this post is to just remark on the fact that this forum is now continually reaching an ever higher moral plane.

Once again, somebody might mistakenly believe that I am being facetious or tongue in cheek.

However, this is not the case, because…..IF you cannot see for yourselves that the content here is not far better than it was before the virus struck us, then maybe you are not paying attention.

In other words, the chaff has been winnowed out.

Left here now is better than it was before, even though there may be fewer of us.

If you think about it, then you will know I speak in all sincerity, from the heart.

And, you will acknowledge that I only write what you have all been thinking.

Just like De La Démocratie en Amérique, you might need a writer like Alexis de Tocqueville to laud this forum, and set you straight by peering from the outside in.

 

It is very heartening, I believe, to see this forum so very uplifted in recent many months.

If you do not see it, then why?

 

The forum has changed in subtle ways, and for the better, I think.

The forum has become more mainstream, and it also seems to be more serious, which I feel must appeal to the readers you wish most to attract.

 

Certainly, you cannot deny that the forum has changed for the better, I think.

The Pub is where they banished all the super rude interactions that started out in World News.  Since they got rid of World News, there's nothing to banish to the Pub.

 

And, I would add...  Unlike Clinton, Bush, Obama, and then Trump, nobody's allowed to say Biden is the worst president ever.

Might've been the best policy decision that this forum has enacted. 

Removing the ever-disconnected World News section and the vigilant housekeeping that came with it. 

Over the last few months there is a notable and remarkable difference.

IMO it's got boring. I miss the banter about things that we can't really discuss in these woke times.

I can't be the only one who thinks this forum is mortally wounded. I find it all to strange that most all the old time posters have vanished to be replaced with newbees so quickly. Since world news vanished it's been a downward spiral.
