Popular Post webfact
By Sally Ho KFC has just made another move to expand its plant-based options, this time launching vegan fried chicken in Thailand. Partnering with Meat Zero, the Yum Brands-owned fast food chain will begin rolling out 100% plant-based fried chicken across its Green Stores in the country and possibly extend distribution in the coming months. KFC Thailand has just added plant-based fried chicken to its menus in two of its Green Stores. The dishes, Plant-Based Chicken Pop and Spicy Rice Bowl with Plant-Based Chicken Pop, which will be available in 6 different combos and meal sets in the two outlets, are made using the vegan analogue made by Meat Zero, a homegrown plant-based brand launched by Bangkok-based food giant CPF. ‘Attracting new generations’ According to KFC Thailand, the latest menu additions is part of the QSR chain’s plans to capture the growing numbers of mainstream flexitarians and vegans. Popular Post OneMoreFarang
I hope they make a big sign on those things so that I am sure I will avoid them. If I want vegetables then I eat coleslaw - which is pretty good in KFC. 15 1

Popular Post Misterwhisper
With all due respect, I have never really understood why vegans would want to eat "imitation meat". It seems so hypocritical to me. If you are a meat eater, go for a juicy piece of chicken thigh (plus a healthy serving of veggies, of course). If you are vegetarian or vegan, stick to the literally thousands of very tasty vegetable and fruit options. Why would a person who eschews (even abhors) cooked meat want to eat anything that actually resembles the texture, taste and even shape of a meat dish? I just don't get it. Even as a meat lover, I frequently eat vegetarian. 13

I'm always surprised that Thais like KFC so much when all fried chicken is great here, far superior to the <deleted> they serve up. I eat a couple of meatless cheeseburgers a week. 4 1
Popular Post tingtong
"vegan chicken".... Why not call a spade for a spade...vegan sausage, vegan bacon, vegan chicken doesn't exist... Bcos it has really nothing to do with sausage, bacon or chicken...all is a marketing gimmick to make it sound more sellable. If someone vegan for real, why try to call the food the same as non vegans? A new thing a new name. Fried lab mash 1, breaded veggie mix, bbq veg pea powder mix...etc 5

Thanks for that - I still don't get it - I eat any animal and I eat vegetables etc. I had one close friend who explained that (her) vegetarianism was because of cruelty to animals (blah blah) so I think fake meat propagates the culture of meat eating - so I still do not get fake meat.

Popular Post sungod
Reminds me of the time as I went to a vegetarian festival expecting to find some new yummy and healthy ways in preparing vegetables. Everything was just being deep fried in oil. Disappointed, I bought some roasted nuts and went home and had sausage and chips. 2 1

I guess, it depends whether they are vegetarians due to health or ethical reasons. Obviously, if the latter, I'd call it 'hypocrisy'...

SooKee
I watch the news daily for an announcement that they have created chicken flavour carrots, beef flavoured broccoli and lamb flavoured potatoes. I enjoying eating but these bloody vegetables get tiresome ???? I think chicken flavoured KFC will be a long way off though, even when they use chicken. Doctor Tom
God the very idea. Their real chicken here tastes like reconstituted rat, one that died of starvation, so God only knows what this new concoction tastes like. Luckily I will never know. To feed the growing populations in some countries in the developing World while using the narrative that meat is somehow cruel, even if animals themselves eat each other. The much needed population controls and reductions, are unpalatable for some to acknowledge. Unfortunately reality is that not everyone in the World can enjoy a high standard of living which includes eating quality meat, driving motor vehicles or any other activity that damages the environment. Burger King veggie burgers are just as good as the meat ones imo. They are not meant to taste the same or like meat either. They are made of beans and peas but taste great.
