A Police Hospital doctor drove his Porsche Cayenne SUV into the back of another car on Ratchapreuk Road outbound heading towards Taling Chan yesterday morning, reported Sanook.

 

The incident killed two people and severely injured a third. The Porsche was a red plate vehicle indicating it was brand new.

 

It happened at the Bang Wa BTS station. 

 

Metropolitan police deputy  Pol Maj-Gen Piya Tawichai said that the doctor would get no special favors and the case would proceed according to the evidence. 

 

He assured relatives this was the case announcing that the doctor was under the 50 mg limit for DUI - he had 44 mg % in his system. 

 

Lieutenant Phanurak - the doctor concerned - was due to give further evidence at Phasi Charoen police station yesterday afternoon.

 

The media also said that relatives were due at the station for an initial meeting regarding compensation.

How can a police doctor afford a new imported Porche?

Is he a friend of Jo?

Maybe he borrowed the Porsche from the police station's tea lady.

looks like the whole rtp is rotten from the top down but they do love their fancy cars hopefully it will be their undooing but i doubt it

Something seriously wrong when a statement like this even has to be made.

Hope they also tested for other substances besides booze.

No. She drives a Bentley. ????

I think "A Police Hospital doctor" means he's a doctor who works at the Police Hospital, not that's he works for the police. As with all hospitals, doctors work at several, so I don't think I would read too much into the misleading opening of the article.

as a policeman he had a choice of tests - booze or drugs.

in his case it's aggravated offence, near the limit.

Clearly he was already drunk, it's a very individual condition.

He's a doctor, not a "police doctor" a phrase you seem to be using to suggest that he's not paid that much.

How fast do you have to be going to cause that much damage rear-ending someone?

 

Anyway, it looks like an accident, "no special treatment" means if he, like anybody else, compensates the victims' families, he will be fined not exceeding 10,000 baht.

Maybe there will some breaking news down the line, "Dr related to Jo Ferrari" working in a Police Hospital crashed a Porsche borrowed from Jo Ferrari's collection of 29 luxury cars.

 

It was also reported that Jo Ferrari was distraught after finding out of the news as he kept a large stash of plastic bags for emergency use in the back of the Porsche.

In that case, I guess he is both...as stipulated in the OP " Lieutenant Phanurak - the doctor concerned" 

But this is not a reason for all these posts (not yours obviously) pointing at the cost of the car and how the guy could pay for it.

Depends on the type of doctor.

 

The Thai doctor that did my knee op studied at Harvard and worked at the Police hospital and Bangkok Hospital.

 

I presume the latter paid more than the former. I presumed he was from a wealthy background because of him going to Harvard.

 

Sometimes, there is no conspiracy.

There is a reasonable answer to that, he was not heading in the direction of the Police Hospital and there's no suggestion that he had just left work either.    It just says that he works as a doctor at the Police Hospital and that he was not over the limit.   To assume that he was drunk heading to work or had been drunk treating patients is ridiculous without evidence.

I know a dr that works at a few hospitals, she also works at the police hospital and is a police officer with a rank. There are a large number of Dr's that hold police ranks,  i believe  this guys rank is mentioned

Curious how long after the accident the blood test was taken ? 

Crucial in the calculation of the alcohol in the blood at the time of the accident .

Yes, I do know how much Thai doctors can earn.  I also know that repayments on a finance agreement, probably aided with a trade-in ( not many people go straight for a Cayenne as their first vehicle) can be easily managed on a doctor's salaries.

You are correct; a lieutenant colonel and his/her name, which is unusual, (the naming of names). It would be interesting to know how these ranks are attained. Does one train as a doctor, then as a police officer? Or are they honorary titles? I have always heard good things about the Police Hospital in its abilities and facilities, which is not surprising, given their "customer base's" exposure to harm and injury.
