Yes there are 2 licenses. However once you have both and if you got them at the same time then when it’s renewal time you just hand in 2 copies (original of some + a copy or 2 copies and original ) and both get processed at the same time, you get a photograph at the same time etc, so while technically true it seems as if it’s all done together.

For renewing, yes...

  • No, you need a motorcycle licence to drive one legally in Thailand.

  • Unlike in the UK where you only have one driving licence, and it shows all the classes of vehicle that you can drive. Here in Thailand the the car and motorbike licences are two separate ones. So you

  • You will have to go through the bike test....????

I think if you fail you can just go again so no big deal other than having to pay the fee multiple times.

The very first time I tried to get my license, I failed the computer testing, all they said was come back tomorrow, I went home, studied and returned and passed the next day, no extra fees.

OP, there's several Youtube videos showing what's involved to get a motorbike license in Thailand.

For issuing the first time it was exactly the same as I had an IDP with both car and motorcycle.

if you have to take the driving and riding tests it is probably one at a time.

Thanks Phetphet

I converted my international driving permit to a private thai car driving license, 2 years ago, now its time to renew, so could be time to make a motorbike permit to, think best way to go on is to contact a training school.

what TRAINING SCHOOL !!!!!!????

Back in 2004 all I had was the old type UK paper DL still,  and got both Thai DL's.

You had to provide your own photo's and the only test was a braking test for a car. ????

Really ???? but this is Thailand and everyone knows that in Thailand everything is different and special!!

It's all coming back to me, back in the UK, aged 18, MC test in the morning, car in the afternoon. Passed both.

Tuktuks.

Sure, also can be used for semi  trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, and cranes since they are all basically the same equipment.

India.

What my father did in the War.

Fortunately the Other Side didn't get that far.

So here I am.

Fool proof way to avoid having to get a bike permit. Disguise yourself like a Thai and you will never be pulled over. Deal is to really look Thai you can't wear a helmet.
