Pattaya: New "B.L.U.E." future envisaged - forget entertainment the focus is business and leisure

The morons who run the country would like to think they can shape how Pattaya will turn out, but the hard truth, which they will surely learn, is that they'll have to take whatever they can get. Pattaya is not high on many people's lists, and Thailand is far, far from out of the woods re Covid. Basically, the government has no say in anything re Covid, nor will it have much say in how any region develops post-Covid, if there every is a post-Covid. Thailand's leaders make Cambodia's Big Man look like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.

Whenever someone who hasn’t been to pattaya asks a question to someone who has been there, it’s not “where is a good place to eat?” or “what temples or beaches do you recommend?”

it’s always some version of “Sex.  Where?  How much?”  Won’t change no matter what they say.

This stands for Business, Leisure, Ultimate Experience.

Business - Chinese hotels, Chinese souvenir/jewelry/leather goods shops, Chinese buffet restaurants, Chinese tour buses?????

Leisure - Chinese casinos, Chinese boat/diving tours, Chinese temples???

Ultimate Experience - Tai Chi on the beaches and in the parks???

Other measures the TBA raised with the TAT are chivvying the authorities to get everyone vaccinated - 50% have received a double dose in Pattaya and 20,000 remain to be double jabbed, reported Manager

If 50 % have had 2 jabs, and there are only 20,000 left to receive the second, then the total number for inclusion in the vaccinations was a paltry 40,000 people.

Thai math, or BS trying to baffle brains ?

If the population is 1 million:

50% double-jabbed is 500,000 people

Another 20,000 have only had one shot and 480,000 have had zero shots.

Maybe?

When tourism finally gets off the ground again in Pattaya they will have to forget the resort's notorious entertainment industry.

That sounds somewhat paradoxical.  How can tourism in Pattaya get off the ground without the notorious entertainment industry?

"When people finally start visiting Pattaya to have sex with prostitutes again, they will have to do so without having sex with prostitutes." ????

Take the sex industry out of Pattaya and you are left with a dreary ugly half city with serious pollution and zero attraction.... even the lovely beach is useless because swimming in the sea will make you ill.
At least the traffic would improve because there would be less people living there as businesses that depend on the mongers would disappear.

Go ahead...turn a normally thriving ..pre covid ... world famous resort into a dull " just another Thai seaside...without it being possible to swim in the water.....town.... " A failure ... snatched from the jaws of success.

I think every one needs to take a chill pill, nothing will change, it's just the Thai way of saying it doesn't happen and the same people will still be filling their pockets with squeaky clean money. I've lived here over 20 years and I refer it to image laundering. Let's not forget there's no prostitution in Thailand, it only what dirty farangs see in their dreams. TIT.

If this is the direction that they want to head then tourist numbers will never get back to pre covid status, for those that came pre covid, those fond memories will be just that, a bustling entertainment industry killed by covid, never to return to what it once was, pompei done and dusted.

Good luck with that one.

So, what happens to those +/- 2 million "entertainment workers" who made a direct/indirect living of working in Turish Baths, Karaokes, Bar Beers and the like? All going into BLUE now? Just asking for a friend!

Sure Dudes! We are all very confident in that. Now back to bar and make up some more fairytales over 8 beers, a Red Label and 5 girls.

Pattaya was dying long before covid hit. With the restrictions the present government put on the place. Doubt it will ever be like it used to be. I can remember Soi Buakhao when it was near impossible to to walk down the Soi due to it being packed. About a year before covid hit you could walk down the middle of the Soi ten abreast  with out blocking anyone's way of being.

That is the fail right there along with entertainment remaining shut

either open or don't bother

dump the red tape - COE - SHA - Quarantine and multiple mandatory forced  uncessary PCR tests that only target foreign tourists, the stupidy is astonishing

Expect that in January

Opportunity knocks to wipe out one of the HARDCORE reasons tourism thrived here since way back in GI Days...they just can;t handle the truth that the place was number 1 knocking shop in Asia since before the dinosaurs.

Put a big swimming pool paving area over walking street..all sins washed away...Woo Hoo !

The new norm without the sexy girl/bars etc, I don't think so.

I think the thought persons have their glasses on backwards.

Well their thoughts and words are coming out of the wrong end of their anatomies, so you may be right.

Just face. That is all. They can pretend. They can try to gain face.

But behind the face everyone knows - if they are honest - that Pattaya is girls and nightlife. Take those away and no one will come.

Advert in Salvation Army magazine:

'Pensioners Coach trips to sunny Eastbourne or sleepy Pattaya bookable in UK.

Please note:  Bingo not available in Pattaya yet'.
