Chinese tourists to return to Thailand - but not until late 2022

This really is genuine bad news for many Thais. Where I live in BKK, the Chinese tourists are everywhere and add a lot of money to the local economy.

Xi is determined to keep China Covid-0 so if he continues with this fantasy, it might be a lot longer than last 2022. The restrictions on re-entering China are so onerous, it will deter foreign excursions  until the rules are considerably relaxed.

Thailand isn't really reopening, so it doesn't really matter.  Guess the malevolent, kleptocratic, religious extremists running Paradise will need to 'mull' another 'scheme' to 'lure' a different ethnic group to be fleeced.  The next victims will just need to know that they can't bring in any tangible property, buy any tangible property, have more than $700 worth of goods in all of their bags, get tested twice for Covid, pay for one, two...whatever...nights in quarantine so you don't have to quarantine, don't drink alcohol, don't sing, don't dance, don't get a massage, don't stay out after dark and spend 100,000 baht visiting temples.

Pattaya was doing fine before the Chinese hoards arrived  it was also fine before the Russians arrived and the Indians before them   each of these waves of new tourists where actively marketed to by the "TAT"  as Pattaya being a  "world class family beach resort"

when I think we all know that it isn't  it's known for its "raunchy nightlife"  why change a winning formula ?

The state of Pattaya (world)  at the moment is almost entirely due to "Covidiocy"

"Russians blah blah."

"Yeah, i remember them times. Westerners were riding along beach road in <deleted> broughams. In top hats and <deleted>. Greeting each other while drinkin 5oclock cuppa with a feaking pinky out.

What a great society that was. Sadly now its all in ruins, thanks to chinese, russians and indians"

This bit of news will get more westerners booking flights! TAT should be boasting this headline instead of 'enticing' foreigners with Thailand Pass!

How surreal that China is hosting the Olympics next year? Good luck with that, feels like an unfortunate mistake already.

Yeah, will be interesting to see if China fails where Japan succeed.

Aussies are free again from 1st of November. Even DFAT dropped the blank "do not travel" recommendation, the travel insurances are going to be valid again.

Gearbox. Not quite true. Some states have opened up while other states/territories remain closed.

Australia is a bit of a jumble with the PM probably the most jumbled, being trod on by local government members.

Australia making Thailand look good.

Reports are they are struggling with their own disease probably due to their own ineffective vaccine the day gets better and better with this report????

And they are pursuing a zero tolerance policy which has failed everywhere, including here.

The chinese wont be stepping foot on thai soil until all restrictions are dropped. They will not put up with the thai quarantine, testing, insurance, vaccine proof claptrap for a coach holiday,

That said it could be an indicator of  abandoned incoming requirements for next year - here's hoping

Will not spend a baht on foolish stuff.

I know I shouldn't but I just gotta bite: Can you back that FACT up with any hard, verifiable data?

You can check for yourself by looking at the amount of Chinese that was coming to Thailand pre panademic and the billions this brought to the economy. This will not return, you will see in time

China doesn't have a great medal-winning history at the Winter games.

Bets on whether that will change in 2022?

You should look up Chinese Zero Dollar tours. I suspect the local economies got very little from the Chinese.

You should check the condo registration at the various land offices, you will see 52% of all foreign owned condos were bought by Chinese or 730,000 units owned by them. So local economies got a lot.

Not really, the Chinese may own them by way of an investment and to get money out of China but it doesn't mean they live there. Apart from that they would be hard pushed to fit one of their tour groups into a condo. ????
