I went to the toilets in the departure lounge in Krabi a few years back, heaving with Chinese tour groups it was... and was startled when i approached a urinal to see that someone had just laid a walnut whip into it, rather than wait for a sit down toilet.

After relieving myself at an alternative stall, i approached the cleaning lady outside and told her in Thai about it. Off she popped towards the scene of devastation, loudly cursing in Thai ''again, Chinese, every day same''!!

This really is genuine bad news for many Thais. Where I live in BKK, the Chinese tourists are everywhere and add a lot of money to the local economy.

 

Xi is determined to keep China Covid-0 so if he continues with this fantasy, it might be a lot longer than last 2022. The restrictions on re-entering China are so onerous, it will deter foreign excursions  until the rules are considerably relaxed.

Just wanted to say that I used to live in Pratunam. Very near Baiyoke. They would be waiting for buses right in front of my door. Wouldn't let me out. Spit all over the place. Could not care less about anyone else. BUT... I've also visited China many times. And the first time tourists like in video above by no means represent all the Chinese people. Many are actually very nice, polite and friendly. Obviously, others are... hopeless. I think (from several nationalities), those who make the most problems like above video are those who have never been outside their turf, and neighbouring countries are their first trip out of their upcountry home, a result of the new prosperity of their country. Unfortunately... Thailand happened to be one of their most popular first trip abroad destinations, and hence saw the worst of it.

Thailand isn't really reopening, so it doesn't really matter.  Guess the malevolent, kleptocratic, religious extremists running Paradise will need to 'mull' another 'scheme' to 'lure' a different ethnic group to be fleeced.  The next victims will just need to know that they can't bring in any tangible property, buy any tangible property, have more than $700 worth of goods in all of their bags, get tested twice for Covid, pay for one, two...whatever...nights in quarantine so you don't have to quarantine, don't drink alcohol, don't sing, don't dance, don't get a massage, don't stay out after dark and spend 100,000 baht visiting temples.

As I mentioned at the beginning of my response, I am not racist. I treat as I find, and I try not to judge --- one doesn't know everything about the person one encounters.

Most of the posts here are referring to Chinese tour groups, not HiSo Chinese. Many contributors are simply reporting what they have observed with their own eyes. There are many examples of Chinese tour groups with ignorant and peasant behavior. Even the CCP tried to introduce re-education classes for tourists to avoid the bad reputation of Chinese tourists overseas. I recall the no spitting edicts before the 2008 beijing olympics.....

It is not racist to expect polite behavior from those who are visiting your country. It is a privilege not a right.  Just ask the filthy Farangs......

How surreal that China is hosting the Olympics next year? Good luck with that, feels like an unfortunate mistake already.

If Thailand cares about their countries well being at all they will not allow tourism to recover to previous levels. A once beautiful country is now pretty much destroyed and it is entirely possible that the natural ecosystem of Thailand has already passed the point of no return and cannot recover.

Can't really blame them for not wanting to arrive until late 2022.  A lot of places might be open then.  Hopefully things will be somewhat back to normal then.

You should look up Chinese Zero Dollar tours. I suspect the local economies got very little from the Chinese.

You should check the condo registration at the various land offices, you will see 52% of all foreign owned condos were bought by Chinese or 730,000 units owned by them. So local economies got a lot.

Not really, the Chinese may own them by way of an investment and to get money out of China but it doesn't mean they live there. Apart from that they would be hard pushed to fit one of their tour groups into a condo. ????
