Popular Post webfact
The Sirindhorn floating solar farm is the largest hybrid project of its kind in the world. (Photo: Jack Board) BANGKOK: From the shoreline, the newest piece of Thailand’s renewable energy future is just a shimmer in the distance. The pure scale of this ambitious project is difficult to appreciate from afar. Forty years ago, the face of this land was shaped by the construction of the Sirindhorn Dam, a then-controversial project designed to provide hydropower and irrigation water to the area. Once again, enterprise is harnessing nature here. The reservoir is now home to the world’s largest hybrid solar-hydropower project. Installed on the surface of the water are 144,000 separate solar panels, the equivalent of 100 football fields. Srikcir
I hope that this system will connect to an energy storage system such as Telsa's storage megapack system to prove a steady and balanced energy flow to the electric grid vs. load dump or grid load shortage.
Paul Henry
Thought they would build a floating solar panel farm in the main streets of Pattaya. They always seem to be under water even after the millions spent on drainage.

Popular Post daveAustin
Oh the cynicism! Good idea, well done Thailand. Anything that takes away from burning coal can only be good… and with land at a premium. Need to do more however as with much of Asia as it’ll hit you guys more than most. Popular Post Purdey
Actually a good idea. Needs to be expanded drastically to cover the country but the first step is always the most important. 3

Electric energy can be converted to hydrogen . Hydrogen is the best possible fuel for fuel cell powered trucks , as they can do the ' fill up ' at ( " petrol stations " ) that sell hydrogen ( in the future ) . Battery powered electric cars with a limited range are better for cities ...

BritManToo
It'll work for 6 months then stuff will fail and it'll be quietly abandoned. Time to get rid of them large gas vehicles. A few years back a lorry accidentally drove into a gold shop not that far from us. Some low life on the street thought they would take a chance, but the lorry blew up killing the looters and shop manager, I think the shop and a customer survived but badly injured. With the level of RTA in Thailand I am surprised there not a few more of these mobile bombs going off. I think with renewables it has to be a mix, and with more sun than wind solar is not a bad place to start.
