Pattaya: 16 vs 2 as restaurant staff attack Thai man and his friend; "shouldn't happen in a tourist town"

A Thai man told Naew Na that he fled for his life as he and a friend were attacked by 16 restaurant staffers in Pattaya.

 

The staff including bouncers were wielding pipes, bottles, wood and knives, said Banphot or Joke, 36. 

 

The attack was filmed "live" on Facebook and happened at 4 am Sunday. Netizens commented in droves.

 

Joke said it was all a misunderstanding.

 

He said that he and a pal had gone to the place to talk to a barman and there had been an altercation next to them that was unconnected.

 

It all then blew up.

 

He had to flee for his life to a convenience store in Bali Hai near a police booth.

 

The cops helped him to the station then hospital. 

 

This shouldn't go on in a tourist town like Pattaya, he said expressing his intention of taking the matter to a conclusion.

But there have been many instances of Thais ganging up on westerners.

I've been in Pattaya area for 13 years, in the first 10 years I've done some stupid things, wandering around back streets, drunk lost in the early hours of the morning. I never had a problem, laughs with the few Thais taking the <deleted> out of "farang mow". I wouldn't dare now in the day time sober. Taxi drivers are aggressive along with the smack heads if you look at them wrong. Thanks to the covids I think or what exactly is in that vaccination! "Land of smiles" has gone.... Hopefully not for ever!

No it's not in his head. The common whine here is that gangs of Thais batter innocent foreigners. Thai on Thai is rarely reported. These mild mannered foreigners, innocent victims of Thai gangs are a feature of the The Thai bashers almanac.
