Picture: Naew Na

Naew Na reported that a trucker following a GPS instruction got stuck under a too low bridge at a U-turn in Nonthaburi.

Bang Kruay police were called to the U-turn where the ten wheeler was stuck under the Klong Bangkok Noi bridge.

It took 15 minutes for a big tow truck to pull the leaning truck out and allow traffic to flow freely once more.

Tossaphon Reuang-aram, 56, was the driver of the truck.

He said he was making a delivery from Thanyaburi to the south.

He was listening to the voice on the GPS advising him to take the U-turn and didn't see the height warning sign.

Naew Na said there was indeed a warning sign about vehicles of 2 meters 90 cms.

The truck was well over three meters tall.

Whatever happened to using your eyes whilst driving?  It is clearly a thing of the past for some....

Or the flyover by the look of it , there is the same type of U turn near us,

you see all kinds of stuff getting stuck , a load of Bell peppers , truck load

of windows , and one poor guy lost his head ......, I think I can make it ...????

There was a sign but he did not see. Says everything about drivers in LOS.

Going down that curve:

do you need a sign at all to notice "my truck will not make it"?

On the other hand: there is "funny" youtube channel (11foot8 bridge, the can opener).

A compilation:

Sometimes warnings and signs don't help. I remember after the 2011 flood, they raised Borom by almost 30 cm so it would act as a floodwall the next time there was one. But they forgot to adjust for it with new signs. Shortly thereafter a truck carrying a huge concrete pipe piece took out the sapanloi near my house. Late at night and nobody injured.

Not only in Thailand.

The Blackwall tunnel under the Thames in London is notorious for over height HGV's getting stuck despite the many warnings leading up to the entrance.

You don't see if you don't look...

Many ignore them anyway.

Next week they'll be a story of a bridge collapse.

That hit looks like it could cause structural problems.

Says the same about drivers in Europe, UK, US and Australia also.

I doubt that the massive bridge would have any problem with a tap from that lorry!

Quite right, those too.   You left out the Pacific islands and India but I couldn't be ars_ed listing all 192 countries!     Which one are you from, I'd guess one of my suggestions?

"The truck was well over three meters in height"

Try telling that to the GPS.

Your "made in Thaivisa" comment is even less substantial!

Looking at the photo...    This is definitely not the first time !!!...

In fact when going under any of these ‘lower’ U-Turn bridges just look at the scrapes...  its clearly very very common.

Definitely not a word used in Thai construction.

Of course you wear rose tinted glasses.

Thais would be the first to say government construction works are mismanaged and of extremely poor quality.

Probably as bad as Liverpool.
