Oh, my Buddha! There goes Prayut's dream of Thailand becoming a favourite destination for high-spending families and quality tourists. Might as well revert to Plan B and start advertising to the cheap charlie wifebeater set in the likes of the Sun and the Star, lol.

You're missing the point albeit not deliberately As @ThailandRyan said above the country is known worldwide for its prostitution "status" Now remove the blight of Pattaya Patong Patpong etc etc from the map and over the course of a generation Thailand gains another 15 million annual visitors currently deterred by that sleazy image 1

Okay, so it's not actually a crackdown on prostitution as the headline suggests. It's a crackdown on the spread of Covid-19 which is a different thing altogether. Maybe the RTP will just insist on the soapy massage parlours and karaoke bars having thermometers and hand gel.

Popular Post Misterwhisper
I really have been had by them for the past 30+ years, having been told all these decades that prostitution did not exist in Thailand. And now this!!!! I am speechless, shaken to the bone. My entire world is crumbling around me. After all, I initially moved here solely because I was taken in by the country's squeaky clean image. How could they lie to me so horribly??!! 2

Popular Post Excel
Well if he wants to do that he best start at the Thai "karaoke" places in almost all of Thailand's 98,000 villages then that caters for Thais. When he has cleaned up that lot he can concentrate on Bangkok, HueHin, Pattaya , Chiang Mai and the other areas where foreigners are serviced. But there again that won't happen as the RTP has too much invested themselves in the trade. 5

Popular Post Tarteso
And again .. They can’t fix the stupidity. The problem is not shooting at the tip of the iceberg. To prevent hundreds of thousands of women from engaging in prostitution, First the government must begin by changing the absurd educational system so that in future generations the population can be better prepared professionally to have decent and paid jobs. Education, education, education.

Classic Ray
I used to live near a restaurant/short term hotel off Ratchada frequented by older Thai men, visiting businessmen and their much younger Mia nois. Their business would plummet over 90% if this crackdown really took place, as would happen with every similar place throughout Thailand. Without tourists, the industry overall is really suffering, and I am sure there would be many seriously <deleted>-off owners who have invested millions of baht now seeing no chance of any return. This tells me it’s not going to happen.

Popular Post Greg O
As an International Ambassador of Good Cheer and Goodwill I can confirm that there are in fact no prostitutes in Thailand. In my travels around the Kingdom I have observed only Social Hostesses and Professional Companions graciously offering to render assistance to lonely travelers. It's a crack-up to read about a crack-down. Will it be a frontal assault or clandestine attack from the rear ? 1
