Thailand encounters challenges in supplying Corona vaccines

Dr. Chawetsan Namwat, Director of Division of Disease Situation Control in Emergency, revealed that the challenges of providing COVID-19 vaccines are to cope with the concerns caused by fake news and various kinds of belief and to manage the amount of the vaccines to match with the demand in each period, to which Thailand had negotiated with some countries as to transfer the vaccines between them when needed.

Up until now, Thailand has received almost 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from 8 different countries, whilst, has been providing over 103 million doses to its citizens and expats with more than 45 million of its citizens are fully vaccinated, approx. 64% of all citizens, according to MOPH – Immunization Center.

If the omicron variant will operate as a live attenuated vaccine, how can it also deliver a stronger immunity stimulation?

Does attenuated not mean weakened?

It's also just something he suggest is it not, so no data backing his claims?

A bit confused since recent studies shows that getting a booster after being infected raise your anti bodies by a lot compared to just having the infection and no vaccines.

Attenuated describes the nature and type of vaccine but what presumably all vaccines are at least supposed to do is boost immunity.

AZ, Sputnik V are attenuated vaccines.

I understand the opposite to be true.

Besides, it seems entirely counterintuitive.

You got a vaccine and then you got a booster. It didn't work. You got covid. Then?? What?? You get another vaccine - to protect you against what? Covid?? Numerous studies indicate that immunity post exposure is best, most durable - from my reading.

Not the studies i looked at so many we just seek info at different sites ????

Let's just agree that Omicron so far seems to be milder, and that sounds promising.

As of today we still have the highest spikes in DK during this pandemic, but the director of the serum institute still think we will be back to almost normal in a few months.

(Todays numbers are 231.000 PCR test and they showed 28.000 positives, so we still test like crazy, but our positive rate is over 10, so that indicate we have a lot of positive people running around in the public)

Time will tell and now i will go book a time for my Pzifer booster ????

We ( me & the mrs ) have to wait until next month for a booster shot, we're hoping that the hospital that did the first 2 jabs is running a booster programme.

Yes, here we go again?

It's called MANAGEMENT .... something half [or more] of Thai officials & governors have no concept of.

All these arguments and counter-arguments are just so much jaw wagging.

Those who will/have gotten vaccinated will do so, those who haven't simply won't, ever.

Boring......

You could then say the same of many western government, starting e.g. with the US,  who hoarded tons of vaccines only to be faced with the fact that many of their citizens didn't actually want them (ergo the donations). You will find that the US and Thailand have completely comparable 1-dose and 2-dose vaccinaton rates (https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations), in spite of the US being richer and having started much earlier.

There is a hard core of people who are strongly against vaccines, in some cases based on the idea that they are healthy and immune enough, and in some cases due to conspiracy theories of various kinds. This is the root of the problem, it has little to do with the management by governments - although I will agree with you that this is an area where the Thai politicians do not excel.

If 45 Million persons have received full Vaccination at 2 shots each, that accounts for 90 Million Doses., which is approx 64  % of the population.

Therefore, 36 % of the population have received only a total of 13 Million Doses between them

This means there are many people still out there that are only single dosed, or have received no Vaccine at all.

That is over 1/3rd of the population.

Get them immunized, and scale down the Booster shots

Can we also agree that after Omicron you have more anti-bodies ? So let's see the comparison of anti-bodies after the 3rd booster shot and those that caught Omicron before getting the 3rd booster shot. That's the metric that would indicate if Omicron is better than manmade booster.

Well, I'm certainly willing to forgo mRNA vaccine. Have thus far and will continue to do so.

You won't have a choice.

Theres not enough vaccines once again.

You most likely wouldn't be lucky enough in any case to get an mRNA vaccine unless you've previously paid for one.
