Thai police are doing a wonderful job - stop blaming us for everything or face jail, says RTP spokesman

Can you imagine a first timer here, unknowingly booking a dodgy hotel, subsequently submitting a unfavourable (but true) review, the hotel management insisting the review be removed or pay them 3 mil THB!

The first timer calls their bluff and involves the police who takes the side of the hotel, the first timer updates the review and levels  criticisms at RTP .

Welcome to Thailand here's a 3 million fine for daring to tell the truth about a $h!£y hotel and a year free board in the monkey house.

What did they expect?  These criminals were hardly going to have a whip round and buy the police a Christmas hamper were they?

Especially after years of paying for their Mercs and mia nois.

In the real world truth and honor mean something. In a world where children, who look like grown men have way too much power and money, all bets are off. They make up their own rules, and we are expected to follow. Hah! Not in a million years.

Resist evil and a total lack of righteousness, with every last ounce of energy, and every part of your heart and soul.

He must have been out practing the brown envelope collections instead of attending his police boy classes otherwise he would know that he has no place in the legal system to threaten with punishment. I believe judges give such opinion and they wouldnt appreciate an uneducated opinion from the head Thailands 2nd most corrupt publc service.

Unless of course, he intends to buy such a judgement!!!

That's right! Just refuse to pay that ridiculously excessive imported wine tax.

How the Thai police and military generals work - John Burdett described well in his books (a series of books about an almost honest policeman from Bangkok (there are 8 books, the first part is called "Bangkok 8"). Of course, there is fiction in these books, but a lot will be true  for these law enforcement agencies in Thailand and the Thai army, at the same time, the Thai police can indeed quickly find some criminals using modern technology (if they really want it).

But I see the Dutch police  beating and gassing people in the streets including women and young people. And the French flies are notorious. Most people who have opinions about the Thai  police know little about their pay, TOS, conditions, training, etc.  They get second hand information from a forum like this. I have lived in countries where the police terrified the people and nobody  would report  a crime but its  not like that  here.

Since Pol Maj-Gen Yingyot Thepjamnong of the RTP says so - well, then it must be true.

Congratulations to the sterling job in relation to fellow police officer
Wichian Klanprasert, who was stopped living (not to use the word "killed") by Vorayuth Yoovidhya, grandson of billionaire Red Bull co-founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, in a hit-and-run incident in Bangkok, Thailand, on 3 September 2012.

TV crews found the little sweetheart on first attempt in his house in London so I am sure that Yingyot calls the TV station now to finish the work in closing one of the many files .........

That seems to be the Thai solution to everything, especially from the powers that be. Doesn’t matter if we don’t do our jobs well or not at all, or even completely screw up everything that we do: we will sue you for defamation and/or slander if you dare criticize us!

Was gonna comment how this part of Thai culture sucks but then realised Australia is kind of getting this way as well.

Freedom of speech in general seems to be taking a nose dive in some countries.

If they are doing such a stellar job, why do they need TWO numbers for the public to do all the hard work for them? Their successes of late seem to be in finding piles of drugs left unguarded and grabbing overstayers.

Very difficult to gain respect by compensating your income in nefarious ways.

I rarely meet a Thai person that has anything but scorn when "Thai police" are mentioned.
