Popular Post webfact
Picture: Sim Rath Following a series of highly negative stories affecting tourism in Thailand and the "sandbox" island of Phuket in particular the country's police have joined in the gushing praise of a group of Thais who found a Russian tourist's necklace. The story hit the Thai media after four people helped the tourist in Phuket find what was described as a family heirloom that she lost in the sea last Thursday. Spokesman for the tourism police and deputy at the force Pol Maj-Gen Apichart Suribunya said that as soon as TPB chief Pol Lt-Gen Sukhun Phromyon had heard the fantastic news he sent in region 3 chief Pol Maj-Gen Kris Warit to find the four Thai heroes who "have provided such a positive for Thai tourism", reported Siam Rath. They are Leuachai, Chutikan, Nopparat and Wisanu. A beaming Apichart, celebrating some good news for once at TPB HQ, expressed his heartfelt thanks for the people acting as "great hosts" saying that Thailand would now be "Top of Mind" when it comes to world tourism. ASEAN NOW guesses he may have meant 'at the forefront'. He continued encouraging his compatriots to keep up the good work with their famous humanity and understanding of others noting that these features "have made Thai tourism so magical and enchanting to this present day". He also thanked the media for bringing the good news story to light. He made no mention of the other stories in the news in the last few weeks. The trouble over overcharging taxi mafia in Phuket, the attack and robbery of a German footballer's wife in Phang Nga and the hitman murder of an Indian gangland figure in Rawai. It seems that finding a necklace makes up for those mere bagatelles, notes ASEAN NOW. Spot on! One or two horrible news stories in regards to foreigners' fate and/or tourism, and you just need to keep your eyes glued to the screen or a newspaper to find a story within 24, or 48 hours at the most, how "great Thailand's tourism is, and how 'jai-dee' the people are"... So predictable! Edited February 15, 2022 by StayinThailand2much
Popular Post BKKTRAVELER
I have to say, about 10 years ago, I left a coffee shop in Bangkok and dropped my money (about 2,500 baht) on the floor as I didn't bring my wallet that day (stupid of me). The waitress ran after me in the street to bring it all back. That really surprised me because she could have easily kept it, it was a local place with no CCTV. There are some kind hearted people. I've seen a lot more of them here in Thailand than in my home country. 12 3 1

As predictable as the ‘taxi driver returns bag full money to passenger’ report usually within days of ‘taxi driver attacks passenger with machete” report !!!! ???? This immature need to face-save is well... utterly juvenile and is a childish attempt to deflect from genuine issues.... 11
