Dream on! In Canada you can legally smoke some great weed as in many other places in the world. He seems to think that he will be attracting people who want hemp products and not the real deal. 'Pipe'

The strength of the cannabis we are talking about here would not be enough to give a lab rat a buzz!

Your comment  reminds me of an incident where a former colleague of mine who was a "Special" in the UK police force was undergoing training as a Cadet with a view to becoming a regular full time Police Officer. The instructor this particular day IMHO should not have been allowed to teach prospective Cub Scouts let alone prospective Police Officers!  Acccording to my colleague, he said "Anybody who starts off by smoking pot is going to become a drug addict". Apart from that being a complete fallacy, this is what trainee Police Officers are being taught by people who are supposed to be experts in their particular field!

It's like saying that any youngster who drinks a bottle  of beer is going to become an alcoholic, and the chances of anybody ending up in a psychiatric hospital after smoking a couple of joints is equally remote.

That is simply not true. The real attraction is Thailand's rice. Sold in 25 or 50 pound bags. Asian in America buy only ours here.

It may well be true that some 5% of the American population hanker for rice from their homeland, just as my wife did when she was living in Egypt. But I'm sure that it doesn't give jasmine rice, nice though it may be, any notable 'tourism pulling power'.

Hardly a educational institution of note :cheesy:

The university was just the location for the seminar of the Thai Ministry of Public Health, not the source of information.

Certain people can be predisposed to mental illness and susceptible to serious conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, who have not had a trigger event.

Have a visit to a psych hospital and see how many patients have ended up there with permanent conditions, not just the temporary drug induced psychosis that can occur as well.

They shouldn't even be in the same sentence.  Almost impossible to smoke enough weed to cause any hallucination.  Never experienced, or known anyone who has, as that's just silly.

Some really silly statements from some obviously ignorant people on the subject.

People should stop watch 'Reefer Madness' ... ????

Yea they will flood here. Shame most will be Back Packers with little or no money.

Not a shame at all. Those are the people who support small mom-and-pop restaurants and hotels. It would be a lot better for the average Thai person if there were more of them. So called "high quality" tourists are great for making the rich richer. Not so great for small time Thai entrepreneurs..

Riiiiiiiiight! There's more than enough studies now that prove the mediconal advantages of THC and CBD beyond a shadow of a doubt, but I guess you didn't care to look it up just so you can hold on to your negative point of view on the subject matter.

I'm afraid like s any others you are misled. There are in reality VERY FEW studies that so any medical benefits.

There re however a load of "papers" from various unrespected sources c;aimiming to show th benefits.

When it comes to peer reviewed double blind trials, you'll find there is very little.

It is of course the basic methodology of all quack medicines to publish all sorts of "studies" that claim to back up there wishes - a case of coming up with the idea first and then cherry-picking various stats and studies to try and back up their claims.

If they man up and make recreational pot completely legal, with no strings attached, and scrap test and go and all restrictions other than vax and PCR at home (not on arrival), they might attract any extra 10,000 tourists a month.

Maybe.

It was not the Ministry of PH, and the speaker isn't an MP.

Because if there's one trait that characterizes drinkers it's self-control.

Now legalize Magic Mushrooms and I'll buy them in droves! ????

I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of accusing potheads of being out-of-control as opposed to drinkers.

Was thinking the same, re-open the opium dens, and they'll flock to Thailand.

Yes it does.  Obviously you have no experience in the latter.  Alcohol tends to make people think they are race car drivers ... the latter, well, you wouldn't understand, just think the complete. opposite.

Not any  more, there's a herb out there for every occasion now.

You know this and I know this , somebody should tell them that money isn't everything.

Too much hypocrisy to fathom. After years of imprisoning and killing people, suddenly drugs are moneymakers. It all sounds like casinos and gambling will be next. Maybe make prostitution legal

Good to know when you are beaten .

Attitudes change over the years and the laws follow the attitudes .

They certainly won't come for the 0.2% s..t! That's for sure! You need to legalize it completely like Canada did, with all restrictions lifted so people can develop and sell proper strains and THEN people will come in droves!

Why would you want to fly 12,000km to Thailand when Amsterdam is much closer to the centre of Europe, much cheaper and far less hassle? Even Canada is closer, plus they speak a similar language.

:cheesy:  just when I thought it couldn't get any more funnier ....    they really are scraping the bottom of the barrel

The ganja suitable for tourism / entertainment purposes isn't any of the options as the brand new law only allows 0.2% THC. Back to the writing tables again sigh.

If you say so Mr Placeholder

I have lived a full life and without the desire  for recreational drugs . But those i have met who do enjoy taking drugs have been far from obnoxious . Yet compared to the drinkers i have known many become obnoxious .

Me neither, the weirdest claim ever, more like a 60% chance each time you visit a few random bars with drinkers. Generalizing BS regardless.
