Its very obviouse that long term posters are suffering mental health issues IMO due to the constant bad news stories without a break.

Be careful people

What on Earth are you talking about?  In case you were just born yesterday, news in Thailand and around the world are typically "bad."  That's what makes headlines.  Whether it's the war in Ukraine or political dysfunction in the US or the Will Smith btch slap.  No one is interested in reading about other people living a normal or happy life.  So again, what are you talking about?

You will have good news, if Prayut is condemning the Russian war in Ukraine.  But When?

There are quite a few "feel good stories" on this site.  They're all over the place.  Go find it yourself.

A newspaper or news channel that only spreads good news...I don't know of any!

Would probably not profitable...Most people want blatant "headlines"

I live now more than 30 years in Thailand, and NO, I have NEVER regretted it!

Who thinks positive will also experience much positive...;-)

Who sees everywhere only mistakes / misconduct, which will be able to live nowhere happy or even satisfied!

Contentment is based on a positive mood, on basic life affirmation!

Greatly dependent, and reflective, on one's lifestyle and company one keeps.

Positive stories don't generate nearly as many replies, so not a good business platform.  As many website earnings are from clicks & ads, especially if people actually use them.

I find the "Diary of a farang in Isaan" topic generally well-written, interesting, amusing and optimistic.

Sad but true.  Also, people generally don't feel the need to post about positive experiences, unless their ego is attached to the image Thailand has, then you get the "Thailand is great, what are you Thai bashers moaning about, go home if you don't like it."  However, if something bad happens to someone, they generally want some validation and to be told they are in the right and the offending party is the bad guy.  This is simply human nature.

A typical positive Thai thing that happens to me is some random act of kindness or good manners, managing to have a conversation in broken English/Thai and Google translate, a pleasant interaction in a café or 7/11.  Things I would hardly write a post about but still brighten my day.

Many people all over the world have mental health issues.

One question is: Are they comfortable living with these issues?

Another question: Can they afford to live with those issues?

If people are too crazy then the social security net catches their fall in some countries. In other countries there is no net.

And then I am sure some guys prefer to die crazy but with fun in Thailand compared to surviving until and old age, without fun, somewhere else.

Who would like to read about my wonderful times with Nit, Noi and Pit? How much detail do you want before it get's boring?

But talkin about that bitch May who told me to buy a house for her and who I loved so much and later I found out our kids are not from me... Now I am sure you all love those stories.

Meh, I think they have been phoning it in for awhile now and don't really care anymore with all the toxic stuff that is allowed around here.

Sometimes I like to read those stories. It's fun how delusional one can be without realizing it.

Happy living with with my BG?

My BG made my life complete?

My bar girl loves me?

Happy In Is an?

Living the good life in Isan?

That could be some really positive treads, but we know how long it will take before the negativity kills the spirit ????

I have a few friends on the pension and thought the maximum you could get with supplements was $987 per fortnight.

About 50 000 Baht.

I would respond with my thoughts on the topic, but way to busy reading "a bargirl stole my kidney" threads.

Like everything nowadays, there is nobody filtering the media we consume. You can read the puppies adopted a kitten stories, or the Thai people hate us threads.

We tend to consume the stories that reenforce our world view.

Why don't you start some happy threads then?

Don't watch the news and you won't have a problem.

Me neither,

I don't have insurance

Live in a gated community

Generate my own electricity

Don't need help paying the mortgage

Own a car, m/c and scooter

And have enough pension to buy what I like.

Enjoy living in your nanny state in a single room with no personal transport, no sex and a woman your own age (if you can find one that doesn't prefer cats).

My life in Thailand is a 'feel good' story.

I have a nice house, a pension, a much younger woman, children, pets, warm weather, beer, food .....

Life is better than I had ever imagined for an old guy at the end of his life ..........

Its not just the news but participation on a forum to discuss topics that are all negative. Ive gone back a long way to find a nice story even way past covid and the sky is always falling. why ?

I don't know about you, but I mainly participate in the 'fun areas' of the forums.

What is a high quality man/woman, can you have a relationship with a woman 20 years your junior, etc.

Threads don't have to be nice, to be fun, I'm having a whale of a time in Asia, and on this forum.

If I didn't enjoy living in Thailand, I'd move elsewhere.

If I didn't enjoy posting on AseanNow, I'd post elsewhere.

Life is what you make of it, there's nobody else to blame.

A lot of your posts saying if you had your time again you would never live in thailand as cambodia and vietnam much better so its a bit contradictory .

I personally love it here and never pretend I would rather be somewhere else

Comprehension problem?

I always clearly state if I wasn't already here, I probably wouldn't be coming now.

Back in 2009, when I arrived, Thailand was the best of all the Asean countries.

Now it isn't, for many reasons.

Cambodia and the Philippines are much better choices for retired gentlemen today.

Vietnam would be better as well, if only they sorted out their VISA problems.
