Bangkok – Prominent Thai doctor Yong Poovorawan asked the public to monitor the spreading situation of “monkeypox” abroad closely but not to panic over the disease as no case had ever been found in Thailand since 1970.

There indeed is no need to panic. It's a DNA virus so nothing like Sars-Cov-2. As for "no case had ever been found in Thailand since 1970." well Australia which from what I can gather has never had a case of monkeypox now has 2 cases.

I was reading this morning that the most recent cases  in the UK are amongst gay and bisexual men. That it's not normally classed as an STD, but gay seems to be a contributing factor to the current cases there.

Similarly in Spanish cluster traced to a sauna: https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/spain-reports-14-new-confirmed-monkeypox-cases-total-21-2022-05-20/.

Now in several other countries:

As of 19 May 2022, 38 cases have been confirmed worldwide. Of these, 26 cases have been confirmed in the following EU/EEA countries: Belgium (2), France (1), Italy (1), Portugal (14), Spain (7), and Sweden (1). In the UK, nine cases have been confirmed. In North America, three cases have been confirmed in Canada (2), and the US (1). The majority of cases have been in young men, many self-identifying as men who have sex with men (MSM), and none with recent travel history to areas where the disease is endemic. No deaths have been reported so far, and only two cases have been admitted to hospital for reasons other than isolation.

Monkeypox’s human-to-human transmission is possible, but it requires very close contact, such as touching pustules or secretions, sharing clothes, sleeping in the same bed,

So not a danger it would come & spread in Pattaya Bkk or Phuket anyway .....????????????

" Hopitel bussiness" going to a bright future ...as in my country gov. Install a 3 week isolation if infected ....hopitel  3 weeks money for Thai hotels coming ....bright future ????

The problem is if this strain of monkeypox was deliberately weaponized, in which case all previous experience with regards to virulence goes out the window.

We live in a world where the firemen have every incentive to start the fires.

Just to be clear. We are supposed to be scared of Covid. You want us to live in a constant state of fear so we will not hit the streets and express our displeasure with the leadership. Correct?

But, we should not be afraid of the monkey disease? OK. Got it.

Covid was not worth panicking over either.  But, 2.5 years later, here we are still wearing facemasks and taking our temperatures and with a host of other useless and pointless restrictions.  Oh - and a devastated economy.

Just waiting for a Black death type scenario to kick off.......????

too many people living closely together ,many in unhygienic

situations , Mother Nature as she does ,tries to balance things

so ups pops a disease to cull the population .

While this Monkeypox is not a serious disease ,just look how

fast diseases can move around the World now ,
