UNESCO names Suvarnabhumi one of the world's six most beautiful airports
This is a nonsense result. The new terminal at Suvarnabhumi is very nice, but beautiful? Eye of the beholder, I guess. Truly beautiful airports were the old Koh Samui and the old Siem Reap one in Cambodia for those of us that can remember. -

Thai wife, US brokerage
I was going through my accounts, checking that I had changed my beneficiary information, called Fidelity and asked what was needed when the thing happens. Death certificate, IRS transfer certificate..... now need to research forms 5173 and 706-NA. Asked about how to get the money transferred, could we set up an account for the Thai wife to put funds into, the rep said of course. Can we do it now? Yes, we can, of course that would involve W8-BEN form and US tax filing. Can begin transferring funds as gifts, and stay under the TRD spousal gift limitation. There will be funds in the account available, as it may take 6-8 months to get the IRS release certificate. Fidelity rep will email forms to print, fill out and sign, scan and email back. Process should take about a week. -

UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud
The Winter Fuel payment was paid to everyone who received the State Pension. One did not need to claim it as such - I never did but it started automatically after I reached State Penson age and claimed my State Pension. So for each of 3 years I received a letter from DWP telling me when I would get my payment. It was £200 in 2021, £500 in 2022 and £500 in 2023 including Pensioner Cost of Living Payment. It has now been changed such that you have be in receipt of certain benefits to qualify for it https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/eligibility so in 2024 my letter confirmed that change and therefore I will not receive it this year.- 1
