Mine will not put the iron on without switching off the aircon as she thinks it increases the electricity rate charged if you have then both on. Another is switching off the air in the car when going through a bit of flood water., apparently this stops sucking water into the engine. Weird one recently involved driving around buying black beans, incense etc, everything had to be black- to worship the black moon with, think she got that one off facebook. Annoying one is cannot put tops and bottoms together in washing machine, knickers are OK though, but not socks and jeans, I chuck them all in when she is out, sshh.

I can’t make mine believe that running more than one electric fan at a time results in negligible difference in electricity bills. She is nearly fanatical about this. My electric bill stays around 1000 baht a month. This only changes if there is more use of the air conditioner. She seems to think all electric appliances are equal in their power consumption.

I used to think Mrs. Shrdlu was daft to go around the house unplugging all the electrical appliances (save the refrigerators) from the mains.

 

Nowadays I'm not so sure after reading many times that electrical faults are suspected of causing fires here. Of course, "electrical fault" could be modern shorthand for arson the way "rats in matches" was many years ago.

My usually sensible lady believes that if she touches plants ???? during her periods they will die. 

When I scoffed at this she said the would prove it by picking mint and basil, funnily enough 1 month down the line both are still thriving .

A mate told me he explained to his Thai wife that it cost 5 baht every time the fridge door was opened and closed.  After that he noticed every time after they did the weekly shopping the fridge door would be continuously open and remain that way until all the shopping had been put away.  She was amazed the next elect bill was not greatly reduced lol.
