President Emmanuel Macron of France has officially confirmed that he will attend the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum scheduled for November 18-19, according to spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Tanee Saengrat.

He said Macron will be here as a special guest of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Thai PBS World reported last week that the invitation is special as France, a leading member of the European Union,  is not a member of APEC.  It will also be the French leader’s first visit to Thailand since he became president in 2017. He is currently serving a second term.

Several countries have shown interest in attending the Bangkok APEC leaders’ meeting because it is an opportunity to meet person-to-person for the first time in three years within the APEC framework.

This is a much bigger deal than Biden attending for sure. The French are going to be huge in Europe in the years ahead.  I will be watching this, if Thailand can friend shore with France then they are heading in the right direction IMHO.

Macron needs to do something as the French trade deficit is trending record high. However it is going to be a tough sell here. Nobody would buy French junk cars, and there is a limit how much perfume the market can consume.

Well, he will certainly be more welcome than in...France

He is quite upset by the fact he cannot pas his bills as he used to during his first mandate being forced to listen to the opposition who has the majority (not that are right 24/7)

Anyway he is a small pawn in the game and is running around every country to befriend them

Not sure that will pay but ....

He'd better look after his citizens

Well, actually they are in pretty good shape to weather the coming storm. Personally I think they will emerge a country with a pretty bright future in the next 5-10 years.

I am sure their wines could sell well here if not so heavily taxed... maybe he should chat to someone about that.

A British based think tank urges Brussels to interfere in the next French elections and internal affairs as apparently Macron is not doing a good job and may finally lose to Le Pen...

Macron  Cannot lose  to Le Pen, as he can't run the next election. Just as most poster on this thread you have no idea what you are talking about.

Guess it is because most Brits here don't want to talk about the new PM they gonna get for Christmas.

Cheese?

Perhaps attendees could wear yellow vests to make him feel at home here.
