One report saying ex-cop.  He went home, shot his wife then shot himself.

Don't know why he had to go and kill himself. Probably didn't want to be moved to an "inactive post"!

Just picked this up on BBC. At a nursery no less! Horrendous.  Why didn’t you just do yourself in. What a sad world!

I find it very hard to believe this happen in Thailand. All those kids and people. RIP to all, except him as he must be feeling the heat now.

A former police officer armed with a gun and a knife stormed a nursery in northeast Thailand on Thursday, shooting dead at least 30 people including children before killing himself and his family, police said.

The mass killing comes less than a month after a serving army officer shot dead two colleagues at a military training base in the capital Bangkok.

And in 2020, in one of the country’s deadliest incidents in recent years, a soldier gunned down 29 people in a 17-hour rampage and wounded scores more before he was shot dead by commandos.

Where does all this hate come from ?

May be there is something wrong in the system ....

Do , at least , not sell ammunition any more .

Which province?

You clearly don't know Thailand, where drugs are everywhere and violence is always just below the surface and there is very little self-control. This drug-taking ex-cop just took things to an extreme. Thailand is very far from the fabled Land of Smiles promoted by the tourist board.

Also from Reuters:

"The shooter came in around lunch time and shot four or five officials at the childcare centre first," said Jidapa, adding that among them was a teacher who was eight months pregnant.

Too many kids dead. Similar to Uvalde. Time to ensure more unlicensed guns are confiscated.

The suspect had been involved in an ongoing court case for allegedly selling drugs, according to Maj. Gen. Jirapob Puridet of the CIB.

He had appeared in court in Nong Bua Lamphu hours before traveling to the nursery and “opening fire while the kids were sleeping,” Puridet said.

Puridet told CNN the former officer was dismissed from duty and “charged with selling narcotics” last year.

Gun ownership in Thailand is relatively high compared with other countries in Southeast Asia.

36 killed on Thai news now. Not sure if that includes 8 month unborn child the teacher was carrying.

I remember in a home safety thread I made people were saying nothing like this can happen in Thailand and it’s super safe…just goes to show anything can happen and you have to be prepared.

Very sad to see something like this, if someone at the school was armed I wonder if so many fatalities would have occurred.

Maybe if each room had an armed guard. It likely would have made little difference. Look at Uvalde. Swat teams waiting outside the school for a hour, while the killer roamed around killing people. Sheer cowardice. Having a gun does not solve everything, nor does it make one brave.

Despite what the NRA claims!  One highly  courageous soul could have ended this with a sharp pencil jammed into his neck. All schools have pencils.

An olive colored helicopter just flew over our house in direction to the site. Extremely rare event.

Likely the police boss.

Not much hurry now that this scum has finished himself
