Agree, lots of homophobes posting on threads.

I have nothing against gay guys, as long as they don't expect me to buy them drinks

Yeh, that and any advances, which I have received in the past.

Indeed.

I don't have a Crystal Ball but once this story dies down I can see a visit from immigration officials in this man's future.

same with that farang selling chicken on that busy road. Was in the news

So the guys who lives a meagre life picking up garbage claims to have money in Belgium but family issues. Its all a bit too much of a story for me.

the phrase that came into my mind was, 'what a dumb f....', then again, I'm a cynic from way back.

Can understand the reporters human interest story, but he's probably landed the Belgian in deep Sh## with Immigration and the Labour Department

I assume he received a VIP Elite visa, so no problem.

These 'human interest stories' normally leave me cold.  There often turns out to be something odd, criminal, or just not quite authentic about them.  Here, the back story, if we ever get to know,  may turn out to be of more interest than the trash collecting one, or at least more entertaining. But as you say, up to him.

Oh sure. I think he's probably got some issues but that's not his fault and not grist for the mill. Kudos to him for collecting trash anyway.

Poor guy looks like he is on deaths door...he is so skinny and unsteady on his feet...maybe drunk or the heat getting to him?

Why live like that at his time in life if he has money and a business back in his home country?  Surely he has his pension and money coming in from his business to not have to work picking up trash for a few bath?

I don't think he will be able to carry on like that for long.  What visa can he have to have stayed here 6 years, and now seen working thanks to this video.  And what is the attraction of a poor elderly farang for the Thai guy?

Maybe the old man has some dementia?

Yeah, I will start same, but add "What an insane story". Some people are just too much! Coming to Thailand, hooking up with a man and living as well as getting by picking garbage. Nice add-on to life!

Lots of foreigners coming to Thailand and picking up rubbish.

Is this story really that different?

Judging from the social situation he’s in, he doesn’t know it from his ass.

Nice job - poor lad.

Why poor lady he may enjoy the exercise and also doing his bit to keep Thailand clean.

Not even sure garbage picking is a job.

I'm sorry.  I've been married to a Thai woman for 15 years and I'm still "a foreign man temporarily visiting my Thai wife."

I have - no - feeling for this at all.

If Thailand wants to recognized same-sex marriages - ok.  I've no problem with that.  Then marry your partner and live like the rest of us Foreign Men married to Thai Women.

But - even better.  If they allow same sex marriages?  Claim you're female!
Ahhhhh.  Then you get fast-tracked to Thai citizenship!

I feel nothing for this guy's situation given my own and other foreign men like me.

15, 20, 25 years of marriage to a Thai woman and you're - "A visitor."

I don’t think he's asking for your feelings but I feel it was extremely unwise of him to agree to publicize his activities.

Now his future may in the hands of the notorious  "netizens" not to mention immigration.

Are you married to a man, Jingthing?  How would you know?
Like I said, I could care less if Thailand make 'same-sex marriages' legal. But this guy?  He's doing a whole lot of stuff that should get him escorted to the airport and deported.

But - the day Thailand declares "same-sex marriages" as legal as well as to recognize 'men as women and women as men' like they do in the West, I'm going to identify as a woman and want all the privileges that Foreign women married to Thai men have.  Of course, my wife will declare herself as a Thai man.

Honestly?  I don't care.  Live and let live.

Rude personal bait ignored.

Of course same sex marriage should be legal here. It's only a matter of time until it is.

You're conflating orientation with gender identity. How tedious.

His relationship with a man is normal and unworthy of publicity. But a European working as a junk man in Thailand for love or whatever is highly unusual and seemingly on the wrong side of the law.
