Immigration announce latest arrests of foreign criminals in Thailand - fraudsters, extortionists, drug dealers and rapist

Thailand's immigration Bureau headed by Pol Lt-Gen Phakphoomphat Sajjaphan announced the latest arrests of foreigners who found safe haven in Thailand after committing multiple crimes abroad.

 

As well as a foreigner who raped a woman in Bangkok after getting her paralytically drunk and taking her to a hotel.

 

The roll-call on this occasion featured fraudsters, a drug dealer, a gun toting gambler and a tax evader.

 

They were picked up on warrants and overstay in Phuket, Pattaya and in the  Bangkok area where they were living without a care....until immigration came calling.

 

There were Chinese, Taiwanese and French nationals taken off the Thai streets.

 

But questions remain how they were allowed entry into the kingdom in the first place, what with the IB's swanky yet controversial 2 billion baht "biometrics" system.

 

The first case featured a Chinese man named only as Mr Ma, 31, (all names in this story are fictitious).

 

Ma had been part of a gang running a car rental and purchase business. After advertising online he simply disappeared with 100 million baht's worth of money and sought refuge in Thailand.

 

He was picked up on March 15th in Soi Ratchaprarop on overstay. Many documents were found that showed his guilt, reported Bangkok Business News.

 

Case two featured French nationals. The media said they came from the "land of perfume".

 

Huber, 35, was wanted for 32 drug dealing offences and setting up a criminal organisation in France.

 

He had come to Thailand on January 9th via Suvarnabhumi airport and was permitted to stay on a visa exemption until February 22nd.

 

He was arrested on overstay in Patong, Phuket.

 

Compatriot Gael, 61, entered Thailand in May 2016 on a longer term visa and had applied for a business visa to allow him to stay until March of this year. He was wanted for fraud.

 

Both were named in Interpol Red Notices and were wanted by the French authorities.

 

Gael was arrested at a business meting in Rawai on March 7th and had his visa immediately rescinded.

Both men will be deported.

 

The third case featured a Taiwanese man called Cherng, 37, who was hiding in a Pattaya condo in Muang district.

He had shot up a slots gambling center in Xitun because he was angry he had been ripped off to the tune of the equivalent of 50 million baht. This happened in December last.

 

Following his arrest he slipped off to Thailand but will soon be heading back to Taipei.

 

The fourth case was a man called Lu, 52, who was arrested outside a restaurant in Bang Plee, Samut Prakan.

 

Lu has admitted that back in China he avoided paying tax in the sum of 100 million baht over importing plastics.

He had been illegally in Thailand for ten years. A biometrics check found his last official stamp was in 2013 - there were none after that and he had no passport.

 

The last case featured a 47 year old Chinese man called Yang who committed his crime in Bangkok.

 

He had taken a compatriot woman to eat at a restaurant in Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, in the Phrakhanong area in December.

 

He plied her with drink and got her so drunk she was unconscious.

 

Then he took her to a hotel in Sri Nakharin Soi 59 and raped her.

 

The victim went to the Prawet police and a warrant was issued.

 

The media said that all these arrests were at the behest of PM Prayuth and PM Prawit amid standard rhetoric.

If I read the story it doesn't seems a big difference with the locals here.... But foreigners are not allowed to do what Thais can do too.. and than Unknown how these foreigners could enter the country... Maybe brown envelopes or help from?????????

The whole immigration system needs reform and home country criminal checks should be mandated for most travelers prior to flying to Thailand. Unless, they actually want the Kingdom to continue as a haven for the criminal castaways  and lowlifes from around the world.

Should go one step further back, if they were wanted by the police in their own countries at the time of departure, how did they manage to exit.

Immigration cannot check all criminal (or even suspected) records in every country.

So you want to inconvenience and subject extra costs and time wasted for 10 to 40 million mostly innocent visitors to Thailand on behalf a few criminals in the world who come to hide in Thailand.

"Total number of public Red Notices in circulation: 7016" in the whole world.

 

Let the law enforcement and existing laws and treaties and agreements between countries do their lawful jobs they are paid for.

Not necessarily. Visa free travel could continue for countries that share criminal record data with Thailand. Like Canada and US do with each other  Allowance could be made for low risk persons like children, guided package tour participants, and those over 65. 

Every country has a different threat profile. Do 30 percent of adult Icelanders, Japanese, or Ugandans etc. have a criminal arrest record?

 

Americans do. So, we should not be let into Thailand without criminal checks.

Those are specific treaty agreements between Canada and the US to share that info.

 

The airlines already hold passenger info and advanced passenger lists.

 

Let the countries where these criminals operate and have been convicted do their own law enforcement, court systems and immigrations checks at their own borders before letting their criminals out.

 

What is so hard after a criminal has been accused or convicted to temporarily/permanently seize their passports to prevent them from travelling in the first place.

 

The US is quite special as it probably has the most laws and number of convicted criminals in the world and it seems the greatest number of wanted criminals on interpol website.

 

Why exclude Children and over 65 they also commit crimes.

 

In the country I come from acknowledgement of a simple traffic offence and paying a traffic fine gets one a criminal  record.

Yet the US has no true immigration exit checkpoints, just TSA who checks your passport with your ticket and off you go. No stamping you out of the country or stamping you back in if your a US resident even a green card holder.

Last time my wife came thru she wasn't giving a stamp which she never is. She asked the immigration officer for a stamp which he happily provided. Trouble is there was no ink in the stamper probably because it never gets any use lol

Red Tape..well it seems to work for some but Mr.Redbull is still vanted and Red Tape all over him but nowere to be seen or heard of.Why they do not put Mr.Joke on his case or better offer 10 million bath for his Whereabouts..or put a bailman on him with a reward of 10 million Bath for his capture..and press do not follow this enough..should be every week a reminder of this guy so no one forget him and what he have done...End of my rant--for now atleast..;-)
