Selling car
IF you have a buyer, give the transfer a try without the Letter of Address (Residence Certificate)... It seems experiences varies a lot with this one (no surprises there) - others are also stating they needed a Letter of Address... If you need that quickly, Immigration have been known to 'fast track' for a fee (I'm not sure if they are still allowing that - but worth asking if you need it). Transporting the car to Bangkok is going to be quite a chore - its better to try and sell it up there. IF DLT still demand the Letter of Address, then you can send it to the new buyer. --------- Question: Do you have a buyer up there in CM? Private sale, or to a tent (second hand car sales forecourt) ? -

recommend back surgeon / spinal orthopedic doctor in Chiang Mai ?
My long-diagnosed herniated disks (lumbar, L5/S1) are getting way worse and I need a new MRI and investigation. Quite likely surgery, hopefully the minimally invasive type (laminectomy as opposed to ACDF/Fusion or worse). Can someone recommend a doctor/surgeon they've had actual good experience with in Chiang Mai? Ideally someone who doesn't immediately jump to assume surgery is the best but who also has well-researched knowledge about the likely long-term effectiveness of more conservative treatments. Thanks. -

From my limited experience with the documentation requirements so far, they only accept tax returns or other forms of passive income that demonstrate a stable and regular stream (e.g., rental income). You can still give it a try, at least it is free to apply 🙂 -

Just to add to this, my friend just switched to being non-resident for tax in Australia. When asked for a TIN he just said he's retired and has no income in Thailand so does not need to be a tax resident of Thailand. His 3 Australian banks all accepted no Thailand TIN required -

That is exactly correct and is per year. For ease of proof should you, your wife or your children ever be audited you should draw up a gift contract that you and the giftee retain. Neither you nor your recipients have to register with anyone. only if the gift is in excess of the limit must a form be completed and 5% tax on the excess be paid
