Thanks for a bit of insider knowledge on this story. ????

Yes. Unfortunately, this 'story' misses out 90% of other facts and truths that make the murdered man sound responsible. It misses main points about the murderers phsycho problems, lack of care and medicines from his supporting family and especially how the attacked guys and other local 'ferrangs' took care of him before. Jealousy probably. ????????????????

Bluetooth speakers aren’t particularly loud in my experience, unless it’s just those I have bought in MBK back in the day. I think this guy was a total nut job anyways …sad. Always have something handy, these over emotional Thai men are a lot braver when it comes to switching on a foreigner… for obvious reasons.

Usually the loud music comes from Thais.

Don't understand how they got into a situation that ended in his death.

I understand, most of them don't like western music.

But killing somebody for this is a different story.

My solution to loud music is to fight fire with fire.  I play Wagner operas at high volume with speakers facing the late night revelers, only I do it early in the morning when they are usually hungover.  I never have had to do it more than once - ohh, and my other Thai neighbors thanked me for ending the late at night racket.

Some people just never understand the proximate causes for getting yourself killed by short-fused Thais with machetes.
Put the word, "Deescalation" into your personal dictionaries and Khun Farang will live a much longer life.

Where did you get that rubbish about his missus driving 90 miles. She was in an adjacent property!!

An inquest at a court in the UK concluded that a British man died from brain stem and spinal cord contusion after being stabbed in the neck with a sickle by his Thai neighbour in a row over loud music last year.

In January 2022, 49 year old Marcus Evans from Somerset, England, was playing music from a Bluetooth speaker and drinking with another Brit, 55 year old Shaun Dagnan, outside of his girlfriend’s house in Mueang district of Kanchanaburi province late at night.

It is believed that Evans’ 23 year old neighbour Prasut Thipthep grew displeased with the loud noise, leading to an altercation. Prasut attacked Evans with a sickle – a sharp, curved knife used for harvesting – leaving him with a gaping wound in the back of his neck.

Adjacent building 90 miles away. ????????????

“Evans’ body was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood outside of the house by his 33 year old girlfriend Wassana Muanchit, who drove 90 miles from Bangkok back to her home after aconcerned neighbour told her to check up on Evans.”

From the article. Please get a responsible adult to read it for you as you obviously don’t understand what was posted in the OP.

We've all been there.  I'm frankly surprised this sort of thing isn't a daily occurrence.

Actually IMHO very few of us have ever been there.

It is all about getting along with your neighbours.

All he had to do was turn the volume down a bit.

Wassana Mueanchit was not his girlfriend. His girlfriend Koi, came out from the adjacent house after hearing the screams. Koi is my wife's cousin. We had a phone call a short while after to be told what happened. If he was not going back to work the next day he would have been on holiday with us and not there. Fact!! Unfortunately, Thai media cover ups do not disclose facts!! If you cannot handle truth don't read sensitive 'stories'

Doesn’t alter the fact that the OP stated “his girlfriend drove 90 miles to discover the body”

Anybody reading that has to assume that to be FACT! So stop whining <deleted>!

Which is how many people approximately?

Thailand is a big country with farangs spread all over it.

Not everybody lives where you live, and knows everybody and their business.

the loud nusic was the Brit, drunk and ignoring requests to turn it down. Other peoples noise period though can drive people to do crazy things. This guy was drunk and ignorant and deserved a thick ear.......death is a bit steep.

Why did they have to do an inquest in the UK.  I am sure that a full report would have been done in Thailand. The crime was in Thailand.  Why is the British government involved.

Probably a small Soi area there with about 20 odd units with 90% ferrang who know each other there. If you have never been to Kanchanaburi you will not know that nearly all ferrangs who socialise know each because of the community in the town and local areas. And of course family and close friends connection.

What happened to the other piss head Brit he was drinking with, why didn’t he report it to the police or  call paramedics if they are available in that area?

ill take a stab at this one....from the op...

Evans’ friend Dagnan, who was also attacked with the sickle, was rushed to Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital with serious injuries. Dagnan underwent an operation on his skull and collarbone.

Obviously alcohol fueled, my  neighbour plays Morlum music at 7am, I tolerate it,and would never dream of going around there and killing her. Obviously the Thai lost his temper and is now going to jail. Good luck.

If a little table top Bluetooth speaker set him off into a murderous he wouldn't want to live in our village, whenever there's a party, funeral, wedding, boy becoming monk, they rig up huge speakers on scaffolding, you'd think it was a Guns N Roses concert, you can hear them from several KMs away.

Too curious to let it go, Will B Good. Have to ask: is it your wife making the noise? Or neighbours? Or both/everybody?!! Or is she refusing/reluctant to mediate & help stop it occuring?

(Forgive the ?'s, but it's just a matter that interests me, as I have noise issues too ????.)

ha!....yes badly phrased...looks like a joke at my wife's expense.....

It is the neighbours, the villagers, the temples, people using the park, markets.......every single one of them has a huge PA systems that they put on full volume at the least excuse.........it is just ridiculous

Thai people are so hopelessly inconsiderate with loud sounds that the farang probably thought it was normal behavior and likely the Thai never said anything before exploding in anger. It's a mental society here.
