So the brain is just tissue and no real soul or spirit exists? I find that hard to believe. Where does love come from? Brain tissue?

Yes, there's nowhere else that it has been proven that it could come from.   Unless you know something the rest of us don't...but you don't.

agree with Karl Marx that religion is the opiate of the masses.

Quoting a communist.

Why shouldn't he?   Makes a lot more sense than some posts here!

From whatever you've been drinking.

Eternal nothingness.

Entropy wins.

The trillions of molecules that were "me" get redistributed into the environment. What atoms, molecules, neurons, synapses, ions and chemicals that were temporarily my 'consciousness' go on to become trees or rocks or are contained in someone's glass of water or are part of the atmosphere. 70 or so years after I'm gone, when anyone who ever knew me is also gone, I will be totally forgotten, as if I never even existed.

When the sun goes supernova, or if it's too small to supernova and just burns out, some black hole will suck all that was Earth and this solar system, and do whatever it is black holes do with what they've reduced to a singularity.

Ceasing to exist for all eternity will bother me as much as not existing for - infinity until my awareness of self arose bothered me.

While I exist, however, I'm going to enjoy it....because I can.

So we should take advice from people who develop bad economic systems that oppress people? No thanks

Dreams don't make you aware of what's going on around you, they're not reality!

That's the fact! Only when you awake are you then aware that you were dreaming. Or maybe we also have dreams of which we aren't always aware? But if you're dead neither scenario could ever apply. I reckon passing is just one big sleep. If you have an end of life experience (hallucinations if you like) they will, unfortunately, be lost forever.

No, who said that they should?

No one was giving or taking advice of that nature in this thread, he just quoted something that the man was alleged to have said.  He wasn't addressing or pontificating from the WEF!

Please stay on topic, my quote was from a Commie, not an American president.

There will be a year of mourning. Everyone will wear black.

A big parade through the streets.

And an annual public holiday announced,

I will be dead. The big nothing.

And because I will be dead, I won't know, and I won't care.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

I mean, what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
You're going back to nothing
What have you lost? Nothing

Some people develop ideas that result in millions of murders. I don't think the average non person who ever lived did that.

So to bring this back onto topic and steer the thread away from your personal anti communist rant, what do you believe happens when you die?

Is there a heaven and hell?

Do you get judged by your maker?

I will stop living, there will be a party with a lot of food, drinks and loud music.

Hopefully they get very drunk and remember the good parts of life.

Rebirth. No heaven or hell.

Sorry, I thought we were having a sensible conversation, how wrong I was.

Goodbye and best luck with your delusions.

My own belief is that I am vey similar to the computer that I'm typing on right now. My brain is the CPU and my mind consists of all the 'stuff' that's in the memory and gives the CPU something to do.

And just like the computer, once the power has been removed and it ceases to operate, that will be the end of 'me'. (that was also Stephen Hawking's notion as well)

Animals do not fear death, they have no concept of it. The fact that they flee from danger is purely instinctual. The selfish genes protecting their future. And we homo sapiens were probably just the same until we learned how to talk and were able to kindle our imagination.

“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” Mark Twain.
